Just posted these in the 992 thread... My Alcantara seems to be holding up great, IMO. Anyone having problems with theirs?
…
Water, microfiber and elbow grease.

Alcantara can pick up more grime than smooth leather, but I think the problem tends to be that people look at it and touch it and think “suede like, I need to treat it like suede,” when in reality alcantara is like any other piece of vinyl and very durable to chemical cleaners. When people treat it as suede they think they shouldn’t clean it with chemicals or are very gentle when cleaning. However, because it’s basically vinyl, you could probably even use bathroom cleaners like Scrubbing Bubbles on it and it wouldn’t bother the material, but common automotive interior cleaners work fine. Also, being vinyl (polymer) it’s also easy to repair if it shows wear. There are two common problems: 1) smooth spots and 2) rough patches with “pilling” (I may be mis-spelling, sorry). But both are easy to fix. If it is rough with pilling (little fuzzy tuffs of material balling up), just use a basic Bic razor (no gel coating, just basic cheap razor) to shave the fuzz off. If you shave too much it may become a smooth spot, or if you already have a smooth spot, this is also easy to repair. Just use some high grit sandpaper to rough it up. 1000 grit may work well, but try different ones until you get the right texture, you won’t need low grit like 80 so don’t go that low. If you accidentally rough it too much just shave it back down. You’ll figure it out after experimenting a little. You can practice on less visible spots, or even just request some sample material to practice on from a upholstery shop.
Just got my car re-finished by @ProtectiveFilmSolutions as well my new 20" wheels installed from @APEXRaceParts . So, what better time than now to post a few new pics. BTW, check out the side profile shots. This is why getting wheels in the correct widths and offsets is key. Overall, very happy with the car re-finish and new wheels. These wheels in particular, for anyone with a 991.2 narrow body, are a nice find. It's like every other "non-custom" wheel manufacturer blew its load on 991.1 fitments then said "Fug everyone else". When you compare these VS-5RS wheels, they come very close in both weight and quality to the high-end custom providers, but for a material amount less in cost.
The car was completely stripped of all wrapping (clear bra, graphics, etc.), then the entire car was paint corrected. Then new clear bra and graphics were applied. Then the last step was a ceramic coating on everything. The paint correction and the final ceramic coating are what give it the "glass" shine.

Love the new wheels on your T. I am looking for a set in the spring, the Apex VS-5RS are my first choice to replace the stock T wheels.
Is the color on your wheels Black or Anthracite?
Does your T have RAS? Any clearance issues with these wheels?
Apex website says Fronts weigh 19.8 #, and Rears 21.4 #. Did you weigh yours before mounting tires?
Finally , did you weigh stock wheels at some point for comparison?

Thanks and congrats on a great-looking T.
Good wheel. I’ve got them on my GT350.

Thanks man. The color I went with is "Satin Black". My T does not have the RAS, but the Apex wheels were designed to clear both RAS and PCCB. So, no worries there. As far as the weight of the new wheels, I was a dork and forgot to weigh them before they were mounted. Perhaps you can convince the guy below that is selling a set to weigh them for all of us? I would personally like to see an "at home" weighing. I will say this, they were notably lighter than the OE when I was moving them around. Lastly, I just went into the garage and weighed the OE Anthracite Standard Carrera S wheels for you. The fronts were 23.6 lbs and the rears were 27.8 lbs. All weights are without TPMS and caps as they were removed and put on my Apex wheels.
If you do some homework, you'll quickly figure out, that this is the only current "off the shelf" offering that is made (i.e., with correct widths, diameter and offset) for a 991.2 narrow body. Everything else on the market that is not a custom order, is someone trying to to "make it fit". Needless to say, everything besides Apex on the "off the shelf" market will look, but more importantly will handle like crap as the wheel and suspension geometry will be off materially.
The Anthracite grey is almost a perfect match to the Carrera T grey accents..
Do you mind weighing them for us? Even if you don't have a utility scale, you can us a personal scale by jumping on to get your base weight, then jump back on holding the wheel above your head and subtract the two weights for an approximate wheel weight.
