Anyone have any lifter noise on cold start after 7 day park, 700 miles so motor is not broken in. Noise gone after 4 miles.

 

What's a lifter noise?

 

 

 

 

When my C2 sits for over a week, occasionally I get that knocking noise. I know the difference between the clicking the fuel injector makes and the knocking noise that goes away when the oil warms up. Plan to discuss this with my SA. It doesn't happen when you drive it regularly. Seems to be a fairly common issue.

Man, it has been a long time since I heard the word "lifter"...I remember helping my Dad change the lifters/tappets on a '68 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible when I first started to drive.

 

Mark thanks for access to these posts. It appears nothing was really resolved and a few guys had the tapping and just motored on with no real issues. All these posts were in the first half of '17, a question would be if anyone with '18-19's have the same issue and for all, has anyone lost a motor. I agree with a couple of posts that if it was a design problem they would all do it. I also agree a lifter that loses oil pressure is banging metal to metal hence the noise. Seems like unanswered questions here.

 

I definitely had the same issue with my '14 981 CS. I'd have to let it sit for months, at times, and those first few starts when I got back to the goodness would bring the noise. It resolved itself when warm/regularly driven and never presented a problem.

Normal vehicle operation. It'll disappear within a couple of miles as the engine/oil starts to warm up. If not, drive directly to dealer.
