I need some advice or recommendations on installing race deck, swisstrax, gladiator etc. In all of the pictures you fine forum members post it doesn’t appear that there are any gaps along the side for tile expansion. Are you leaving gaps? If so, about how much on each side? Are you then concealing the gap with molding? I live in the Northeast if that helps. Thanks for everything

Hi Tony,
I used GarageDeck from www.bigfloors.com. GarageDeck was less money than RaceDeck and I could tell no difference in quality. I installed it in a three car garage about 7 years ago and could not be more pleased with it. It is by far one of the best things I have ever done to my house. I bought a saw blade made for cutting plastic and my friend came over with his table saw and we finished the install over a weekend. We left a 1/2" gap all around the walls and so far have had no issues. I did not cover the gaps with any trim, you hardly notice the 1/2" gap. It is a floating floor and mine has not moved in 7 years. The part of the floor that is slightly raised in the photo below is my storm shelter and I have no problems with the 911 or my wife's 718 Cayman parking on top of it.

I installed Swisstrax tile in my garage. I left 1/4” to 1/2” gap along the edges for expansion. They also have a floor designer for designing your own garage flooring and selection of tiles.
I think it depends on the climate. Where I live now, the climate is very temperate and stays in a narrow range, so I have zero gap on my RaceDeck Free Flow. I might leave a small amount if I lived in a hot area.
no gap, in the Northeast. no problems. I dont think plastic really expands? 1 day job, so worth the effort and expense.
I used Garageflooringllc.com and I installed the flow through tiles which have worked really well in the winter with the ice and rain....I actually like the pattern more than the solid tile look.
I did not get a plastic blade and now that I know there is one I wish I had used it.
I LOVE my Swisstrax flooring. LOVE it. Everyone comments on it. It’s dry and not slippery in the winter and just looks great. One thing no one mentions is the slats in these tiles. They let all the smalls pebbles and dirt that come in the garage fall through. So when you need to get down and work on the floor, you’re not getting covered in grime.
i didn’t take into account expansion. Mine buckles when it gets real hot. I need to trim mine one of these days. It’s an easy install though. One weekend with a rented tile saw. I did it myself.
Nice garage but that Porsche flag needs some ironing.
I knew right after I posted that pic someone would comment on my creased Porsche flag.
That previous photo was from 2 years ago when I got my 911. I have moved a few things around in my garage since then and the Porsche flag is not as creased. Probably due to our heat and humidity.
