It amazes me how varied the dealer responses are... I wasn't even looking to ask for replacement on my 2015 GTS when I just asked about the smearing on the front. SA walked out, looked at my car, came back and said "we'll replace the glass." Oh, and we'll do the rear as well since it is also "smearing." This was just last year, 2018. I wasn't charged anything for labor or anything else. Yes, it did take two days, but it wasn't 2 days of labor - they need the adhesives to set and all that. So I left it on Friday, picked up Monday, and during that time they gave me a nice new Macan S to drive around.... I did note that the dealer was required to take pictures and submit to someone. The SA sent me a couple pictures when they had the glass removed.....

2016 C2S bought CPO in Jan 2019. I have been following this as my rear window has the adhesive issue. Took to local dealership and has taken six weeks to get an answer. Service manager said warranty claim was denied and quoted me $10k to replace the rear glass and adhesives. He said they have never seen the problem. Getting really frustrated with this whole process. Going to take it to the dealership that sold it to me to see if they can do anything about this.

For what it's worth and after having problems with every dealer, I decided to clean up the goo and apply baking soda on what looked to be permanently wet disintegrating rubber.

The rubber is now no longer wet and doesn't come off (in a goo-y mess) all over my plastic razor blade. Not sure if it (somewhat) reversed an acid chemical process, simply dried out, or both but it is holding albeit rear was not quite as bad as front (which was changed).

You, my friend, are being fed a load of horse-$4it! If in fact you are experiencing the same issue that I and others have been discussing in this thread, and in my case my dealer replaced under warranty without any challenge, then the cost is simply rear glass, seals, and labor. The 911 OE glass for my 2015 GTS (part #991-545-911-07) can be purchased for $600 (with or w/o rear wiper fitment), the adhesive kit (part # 000-043-305-35) for $123! Figure on couple hours of labor -- how in the world does that come out to $10k??????? Retail on the rear glass is $800 but even then....?

I was counting on them to try to make a few bucks but this exceeded even my low expectations of this dealer. Will keep you posted...

My car insurance pays for glass replacement. Would love to see the expression on their face seeing an estimate of $10K for glass replacement.

Here it is. I have removed my info, the dealer and SA's name as well as my VIN. $9k for a $600 piece of glass.

Happened at the factory. They must had a bad batch of adhesives. Messy, gooey and almost impossible to clean up.

Omg. Must be an extra digit left of the decimal.

You should send that to PCNA and insist they open up a claim for your complaint for gouging.

That stealer must think that all their customers are brain-damaged clueless idiots. It is almost an insult to think that anyone would be so stupid to pay that kind of money.

I think I'll have to. I hate to think what they are charging other people in my area for repairs. I'll be going elsewhere obviously.
