Default Over Rev Question

Hi all- first post here. I recently took my 2013 Carrera S in for spark plugs and coil pack replacement, and when they pulled the codes, they showed a bunch of over revs.

Some background:

Bought the car from private party 2 years ago with 11k on it
Car currently has 21k

He had a PPI for it as it was getting ready to be turned into a dealer and be CPO. I know he did one DE event but I didn't ask about over revs at the time.

Here is what the logs show:

over rev range 1: 428/ 2996.13h
over rev range 2: 50/ 75.28h
over rev range 3: 36/ 75.28h
over rev range 4: 163/ 75.28h
over rev range 5: 87/ 74.28h
over rev range 6: 109/ 74.18h

Looks like most of these came from the DE event. How concerned should I be about these? They took place around 15k miles ago.

Thanks

That report is useless. For example, you can't have more over revs in range #6 than you do in range #5. Something ain't right. Either the report is wrong, the books are cooked, or the DME has been tampered.

Welcome to Rennlist.

This car could never be CPO'd with those over revs. However, you've had 10K miles of (hopefully?) trouble free driving, so that particularly nasty money shift shouldn't be too big of a deal. Can you find a 3rd Party Warranty Service to help with Peace of Mind?

yep, no issues at all for 10k miles. i'm assuming this was a downshift issue on the track. the 5 and 6 are what worried me but wanted to get some opinions.

Also, your average MPH shows to be about 7 MPH. That's bogus. Like I said, something ain't right.

The fact that you posted this mishap here shows that you know what to expect down the road. Either the car mis-behaves or you are going to take a hit on the resale value when you try to sell it.

the car does not mis-behave at all. the blunt question is, what issues could i possibly have if this car had over revs at 1 DE event and I've had 10k of no issues.

It's a moot point. Your report is total bull$hit.

Please-read post #2 and #5. I've been doing this a v e r y long time. I was probably one of the very first people to promote the use of a DME read-out as a diagnostic tool during the due diligence process of buying a used Porsche. Go troll, or perpetrate a scam on another website. Not here on Rennlist. You're full of $hit.

The pattern of the over revs you show shouldn't be possible, so you need that checked.
If significant over revs occurred 15 k ago, you car appears okay, so I wouldnt worry about it.
People ( and CPO inspectors) dont like significant over revs, but if it is far in the past, they may agree that it is not bad.
It would be a negative on selling the car.

LexVan who are you mad at?

That report is definitely gibberish. I can't even think of a plausible way a PPI could have gotten that readout - like, they're obviously competent enough to get the ranges, hours, etc., but the numbers are nonsense.

Is the shop is recommending an engine rebuild because of the “over revs”.

no engine rebuild recommendation. the car has been fine. i took it in for routine spark plugs, and asked them to scan the ecu because i recently got a "psm disabled" and "auto start disabled" code. those were the numbers that came back on the report. i'll ask them to re-run them. thanks guys
