Nope, I bought the KLR650 new but did the doohickey mod to avoid future issues. Anything I buy new never gets a stripped fastener.
No, it happened to a 1986 BMW R80 G/S Paris Dakar I bought used. I knew about it, but the deal was too good...used a Time-Sert to fix it. The drain bolt for the swingarm which is easily stripped if the previous owner(s) were clueless (they used a pipe plug and tape to seal it) . And reusing a sealing ring a kazillion times did not help, I am sure.

Get the LN magnetic plug. FCP euro has it for $26 and a $49 order gets free shipping. FCP has tons of good stuff.

I torque most bolts. But just finger tight for oil plugs and never a problem.

That said, yesterday I broke water pump bolt on my BMW. The torque for that bolt was a mere 18 inch lbs. Arghh. I was lucky to get the bolt out.

I don't recall what I did in my C2's but when I order a filter from Suncoast for my GT3, I receive three drain plugs and crush washers. I replace the drain plugs with every oil change.

I just got an on-dash display telling me to replace the differential lube on my daily driver that has an aluminum case.
The factory manual calls for 35 lbf.ft. for both the M18 and M20 plugs. So it is not out of the ordinary.
