Just to update this thread. I finally had a chance to install the middle tail light. The harness worked great. No codes and no other issues.

Hi krburrell, I also finally had a chance to install the middle light bar. Thanks for your help ... it all worked great. No codes and no other issues.

I purchased the Light Bar from online from Suncoast Porsche Parts & the pigtail plug from DeyTrade, then just sliced into the license plate wiring. Just love the look on my Guards Red 991.2 GTS! The old black trim between the taillights just didn't agree with the iconic styling of the 911 coupe ... some would think it is false advertising of a AWD GTS ... no worries for me as Porsche should have used the Light Bar on all models!

I was thinking about putting the Black one on my car - I assume I could swap it out easily without throwing any codes?

That looks so good on your Guards Red GTS. I'm gonna have to do this to my GTS. Thanks for the pics and the information. Great work to all that figured this out.

Kburrell - Thank you for figuring out my holy grail modification! I went so far as to have my Porsche service department remove the bumper and try to figure it out themselves. They couldn't. Said it was not possible. I did not buy it because I have seen C2 GTSs on RL with the light bar. If you don't mind, I may DM you with a question or two when the time comes. My biggest concern is splicing the correct wires. That and actually getting the bumper off. Did you use the YouTube instructional video or some other source for learning how to remove the bumper? Thanks again!

Here's a great DIY for 991 bumper removal done by my friend Larry . https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9295...all-gts-3.html

I've removed my bumper a few times and it's pretty straight forward. I may do this mod as well so keep us posted if you go for it.

Hi all, I found the the rear bumper removal tasks is much easer if you jacked up the rear of car ... it also increases the space around the tires for wrenching! I taped both the edges between the body & bumper just assure no paint damage. I did find my wide body GTS had different number of fasteners and there locations ... than a standard 911 as referred to in the Porcshe 991.2 service manual (not a big issue ... just takes a little more effort find them).

The wiring is very easy ... here is the diagram that "krburrell" help me with to splice in the light bar into the license plate circuit:

Impressive work laying out the electronics. Am I correct that the red center light is always on and not part of the brake lights? Is this how the 4 models run with center light always on?

You And KRBurell rock! This is what I’m talking about. Thank you both for being the guinea pigs on this.

Cajerseyboy - That is correct. It is a running tail light that is not influenced by braking.

Wondering if you can make it into a brake light by splicing it into the third brake light wires. That would be cool.

I think that is a great idea and it makes sense that it would work as well but I'll leave it to the guys who figured out the wiring in the first place to opine on whether that is doable or not.

Porsche_nuts, I consider that but I like that it is setup to function the same as Porcshe did on the Carrera 4 GTS. With the center brake light in the spoiler (wing) you already two high center brake lights and not using one or both would be a little odd?

I guess it come out to personal taste. I, for one, would like more brake lighting - so the rear bar in addition to the 3rd braking light. I think that would look pretty cool, especially when the oem ones do not do that.
