You have a 991.1 light bar right? I can confirm that my 991.2 light bar operates at 12v.

Now I understand what you meant. Yes, I have the center light bar that fits the 991.1 bumper cover. It is 5v. I have not looked at a 992.2 center light

So the light bars of .1 and .2 are different. Have someone checked the parts numbers ?
A .2 light bar (12v) could fit on a .1 bumper cover ?

It will not bolt up. I attempted to see if the 991.1 light bar would fit on my 991.2 bumper and it did not line up. They are both different shapes on the ends as well.

If anyone is interested I have a complete set of 991.1 clear tails with the matching clear center light bar that I would let go cheap. I purchased for my 991.2 as I like the white on clear look thinking I could retrofit them when I first got the car but there was no way they could work. Sitting on my garage shelf collecting dust-if anyone is interested send me a pm.

The bar I have has two part numbers stamped on it 991.631.460.04 and 991.631.989.00 The first number also appears on the little Hella sticker on the underside

I looked in the Porsche catalogs. The 991.2 light is shown as part number 991.631.465.02 and the 991.1 is shown as part number 991.631.460.02 (superseded by 991.631.460.04) and 991.631.989.00

Than you again for this thread! I always loved the center light so I had to retrofit on to the GTS

Took me a little over an hour to install. I know this mod is not for everyone but I think it gives a similar look to what you see on the 992.

Need the light bar:

LWG, well done ... looks great! It's a great personalizing touch that works with the iconic 911 contours!

Question

By the way, LWG ... Where did you get this part of the pigtail from?

Just about to attempt this and wanted to make sure I got everything I need.

That is just a little extra piece of wire I soldered on and used Posi-lock wire taps.

You just need 2

OK I finally had some time over my holiday break to study this and have good news. This looks like an easy mod to perform once you take the rear bumper cover off. Looking at the wiring diagram I saw that the middle tail light actually has two lines and ground. One line is connected to the right tail light and the other is connected to the left tail light. Using the 4S harness I was able to determine the connector that plugs into the middle tail light (which is part number 4F0973703A). I also saw in the wiring diagram that the two license plate lights are connected together as a single circuit. I built a plug and play harness that connects into one of the license plate lights and feeds both lines of the middle tail light. I purchased both pieces to make the harness online. The licence plate harness came from an ebay kit to add LED lights and the other harness was a pre-made piece that had a 4F0973703A connector on it. I spliced these together to make this harness. I will go back and cleanup the harness with soldered connections and shrink sleeving to make it water proof then have the light installed on my car.

I checked the setup with the engine running to see if I got any errors and did not get anything. Also as a test I removed one licence plate light and did not get an error. I then I removed both licence plate lights and got an instant error as soon as I turned the key.

Here are the part numbers needed:
Middle Light: 991-631-465-02
5X light mounting nuts: 999-076-056-01 (no need to order, re-use what is on the car)
Middle tail light harness: 42831100-PT (from DeyTrade Connecting in Germany) The middle line is ground.
licence plate harness (ebay from Germany) I did not use the resistors. Also you can order all the plugs from DeyTrade so no need to order anything off ebay. See post #24 later in thread with all DeyTrade plug part numbers and links)

I have 3 extra Dey Trade connectors that I will sell for $17 each, including shipping within the continental US.
PM me if you are interested.
