Yes. Very rare. Happens. We see it on the 997 Forums. Even some of the 991.1 GT3s. Uncommon.

Do you idle your car for long periods of time? Only way I can see a report like that.

First I have seen an over rev on a pdk. Learned something new.

You can overrev (level 1) on a PDK at least on a 987.2S

I did it in sport + and upshift late, yes the rev limiter will kick in but it still overrev slightly before the limiter kicks in (hence is only level 1)

but back to OP: no is not a concern at all

For example on a 991.1 GT3:

Interesting, thanks. It looks like the momentum of the car accelerating in lower gears will push the engine just barely into the overrev range.

Maybe some people like to leave their cars running at night...

I would think you could over-rev a PDK to range 1, maybe 2 in manual mode by accidentally hitting the down paddle when attempting to upshift at near redline. I assume the computer or limiter / fuel shutoff keeps the car safe as with a PDK you're asking it to do something rather than physical doing it.

Has anyone seen a PDK car with anything above range 1-2?

The PDK would not take the downshift in your example.

Maybe the car would be left idling for weeks at a time.

I'm hoping for O/P's sake the info is just faulty and reading inaccurately. Including over revving a PDK.

The way I read your report is that your car spent 8380 hours in over rev range 1. Am I reading that right? If so, something is wrong. Or.....it was a test car in the factory at wide open throttle for a very long time (while on a stand with no mileage being put on the car). It is one of the first 991s after all........hmmmmm

I smell the makings of DMEGATE.

The 8,380 is a time stamp on the DME in operating hours.

This is a garbage report. There's no way you have over 8,300 operating hours. What are your total operating hours? What did you use to run your diagnostics? Next time your car is at the dealership, ask them to run a report for you.

Ok got it. I was on the phone with the New York Times about the next automotive scoop when I saw your post. Thanks for setting me straight.
