Default Over rev

I ran a diagnostic eval on my new to me 2012.5 991 CS. Found a few faults of no concern, but did see an ( 1 ) over rev " Over rev range 1: 95/8380.32 h " . Should I be concerned ? How is an over rev even possible these day's with all the built in safe guards " rev limiters" ??

Range 1 over rev? and only one incident? I wouldn't worry about it. Porsche will still CPO cars with that report.

Is this is a PDK? If so, it was probably a glitch or misread as I am unclear how one can over rev a PDK tranny.

I understand it isn't possible with PDK but definitely is with a manual ...

No concern at all if you visit range 1 or 2. If >3, Porsche can supposedly deny warranty. You don't mention if you have a PDK or MT, but if you bounce off the rev limiter on an upshift it's a range 1 over-rev. I got carried away the other day and hit fuel cut off in 1st. The higher range over revs are caused by a missed downshift (ie 4 to 1) where the engine is physically connected to the wheels so fuel/ignition cut off does nothing to reduce engine speed. Quick clutch foot and a prayer is the only solution in those situations.

I think only way over rev is possible with PDK is when going downhill holding gear at the redline....

The way I read this, is you have 95 over-revs in range #1 with the last recorded event at operating hour 8,380. Normal. No issue. And proof positive a PDK can be over -reved. No surprise there either.

Wait. Something is not right. How many total operating hours? Approx 8,380 can't be right unless you have over about 250,000 miles already.

Are you sure your hour time stamp is correct? Do you mean 838 hours? Now way you have 30,000 miles and +8,380 operating hours. That's a brisk walking pace.

NFW. I've read over a 1,000 DME reports. I've never seen an average MPH of 3.66. Never. Ain't correct.

Agree. The combination cannot be correct so either the operating hours is wrong or the car has much more than 30K miles ...

Is it really possible to overrev a PDK? You can't money shift it, and the computer cuts off throttle at redline. Genuinely curious, as I always thought it was impossible.
