Hi I am posting this for a fellow driver, and I would like to learn about this as well. Can you explain what the different readings mean in a DME printout? TIA

 

Very clean read out, zero over revs from ranges 2 through to 6.

 

Ignitions in RR1 are only 19 which is fractions of a second. RR 2-6 clear...

Nothing to worry about and you'll get a Porsche extended warranty on that no issue.

In an AMG speed zones are defined as

(Idle =< (Max RPM + 50)) divided by the number of Zones. Are zones defined similarly with Porsche?

That's good to know too. Take total mileage and devide by total operating hours (1,486.9) to get ave MPH. My guess is the car has about +53,000 miles.

Also the last over-rev event happened 1,486.9 - 1,390.3 = 96.6 hours (over 3,400 miles) ago. That's good. Not a recent "joy ride" during the current sales process.

 

A PDK does not over rev past range 1.

 

They do. But it's very rare.

 

Over 1390 engine operating hours ago this car experienced 19 engine over revs
which is about 6 engine revolutions and happened in the blink of the eye when the rev limiter caught it.

One reassuring factor in any over rev is the duration time since the event. You have had a very long time and since the engine hasn't shown any sign of imbalance, this is very good.

 

Good "guess" on the mileage! it is not my engine. It is a fellow P car owner.

I am sorry if I sound repetitive I am trying to learn how to read these things, after many years out of Porsche I am back with a GT3 if it ever gets here.

So how do you define the zones in Porsche, it is clear that the AMG formula does not work in this case.

Anecdotally, I had a Cayenne 9ff in 2009 and would go well pass the MAX RPM and boost.

Aside from the ignition ranges, does the DME report show an actual max RPM value? If so, this would be one indication if a flipper has abused a car.
