Reacher, what tune did you go with on the GTS cab? I think the tune/cats combo is in my cards but I was planning to hold out until Cobb figures out how to deliver the tune without pulling the ECU.

Cobb looks like they have a really great tune as well, but if you're planning to hold out until you don't have to pull the ECU I suspect you're going to have to wait a very long time. My advice is to just do it right away, it's so worth it. It really transforms the car. Why not enjoy it for as long as you can?

I had a 991.1 GT3 and loved it, although I have to say the GTS is more fun. I have high expectations for the 991.2 GT3, especially since it's the first Porsche I ordered to my own specs, so it'll feel very special.

FYI, I contacted my local PCNA dealer to inquire about getting these installed as they had discussed exhaust modifications earlier. The service advisor said they would not install them as they constituted an emissions control system modification and they could not do the work for liability reasons(?) I asked about warranty implications and while he said it would obviously not impact unrelated systems it would pretty much void anything down stream of the turbos - O2 sensing, damage caused by any overheating of aftermarket Cat's, valve issues on the PSE, and any related check engine lights associated with the Sport Cats. Their recommendation that had minimal impact was to do a Cat Back exhaust by Fabspeed, Sharkwerks, or Akrapovic ($$$$). So if I want to do these I need to go Indy, but now am wondering about the aforementioned as an alternative.

Nm2far, totally understand. Every dealer is different and some will install certain parts and some won't. We always recommend contacting your dealer before doing any mods. What usually happens is our customers return their vehicles to stock when necessary for any issues or check ins.

I talked to the dealer I am getting my car from today and at first they said I would need a tune due to getting a CEL with just the cats. I explained that many have installed these without getting a CEL and he asked how they were able to do that with the cats. I explained a little bit and he picked up on it and he seemed to understand. He said they would install them but I would have to sign a waiver that states I would not hold them responsible for any problems, which I told them I would do. I am waiting to hear back from them in regards to the install time. I also contacted a highly regarded Indy shop in my area and he told me it he would install them and charge 1 1/2 hours of labor and agreed there should not be a problem. I plan to get these since as I said I drove a 991.2 with hi-flow cats and loved the sound so that makes it well worth the cost.

For what it's worth, I had an indy shop put my full Akrapovic system on and they charged less than $200 for the job. Just find a good indy you trust and have them do it, it's an easy job and you don't have to do it through a dealer.

Ask 5 different dealers about warranty and you can get 5 different answers. At the end of the day, these are modern Porsches that have little to no issues and most dealers take care of their customers regardless of the scenario. I typically don't recommend letting warranty gray area get in the way of maximizing the driving experience, especially with something as simple as an exhaust upgrade. That said, at the end of the day it's what you are comfortable with.
In regards to the muffler system, I was very involved with aftermarket development on the exhaust for these cars when they first came out. With the valves in the open position, the factory PSE muffler is essentially a straight through design. Due to this there is little benefit on developing a muffler replacement for 991.2 PSE models. This is also the reason sport cats or catbypass pipes offer such a superb improvement to the PSE exhaust, as the cats are essentially the only mufflers with the valves in the open position.

My dealer (Porsche St. Louis) installed my sport cats as a part of the X51 Power kit upgrade and never said a word about warranty issues or concerns. I've been told mine sounds pretty nice at WOT when I've got the valves opened and I agree with John, no reasons on my end to change the otherwise factory PSE set-up.

That's a lot of work and $$ for a check engine light or other minor issue. Car has a lot of warranty left. Makes more sense for an out of warranty car. Looks like a great product, I'm sure there are very few issues, but this is a $140K car not a $15K sport bike, and "minor" out of warranty issues can cost as much as the aforementioned sport bike

We're currently building more 991.2 PSE Sport Catalytic Converters. The gauges that you currently see on the piping are for confirming fitment, not pictured are 1" thick aluminum heat sinks / gauges that are used when welding to prevent warping and keep the fitment true. The aluminum fixture just out of focus has many clamps to assure positive fitment. You may also notice the rubber plug and tubing going into the one sport cat- that's for back purging the welds for full penetration and strength in the interest of durability and a smooth surface on the inside of the component.

Nice work and as we used to say in the Navy, "attention to detail". After doing research, and reading about how they sound, etc. I am ordering a set from Austin at Vivid Racing, and I assume that I will be getting the latest version to ensure all will be well.
