Default Convertible rollover bar question

I am looking at some low milage 991.2 convertibles to supplement my current Porsche which is not street legal. I would like to have the option should the sun be shining to very occasionally track the car but my home track requires that the rollover bars be up and in place to run. I went on the Porsche website and could not find the answer so I put it out to the reenlist community the repository of all porsche knowledge.

What is the question?

Run PCA events. They allow our cabriolets. Our roll bar mechanism is concealed and deploys automatically.

From the 996 on, there's a pop up bar. It allows drive up to intermediate groups on PCA. The groups that ask for dedicated harness will require a rollover bar. BMWCCA in the other hand won't allow it, as far as I know.

It's Possible, I saw a guy with full cage on a 991 cabriolet on RADE. If it's worth it, that's a personal thing, imho.

They deploy pyrotechnically like the airbags, and only in response to crash conditions. No, you can’t put them up manually.

I always amazed at students that show up for track days in convertibles with pop-up roll over protection that REFUSE to put the top down for their session. I explain to them "If you go a little airborne on the curb berms - they can and will deploy and if they do, your window will shatter and your top is ruined."

Every one of them gets a deer-in-the-headlights look at me when I tell them that as their Instructor and they still don't put the top down. Whatever - all I can tell them is what will happen if it activates! Aston Martin owners are the worst at not clueing in on it.

BTW, current new 991 tops are $ 6,500.

Bumping this one to the top as I just learned a number of tracks require roll hoops for cabriolets. There must be a solution out there. Anyone?
