Yes I have a Carrera S model. I heard about 5 hours too and wasn't expecting anything over $1k that's for sure. Thanks for chiming in!

I had some warranty work done so they didn't charge me, but from what I hear it's about they charge about an hours worth of labor for it (also with some minor other shop fees).

My bank account isn't nearly the size of 99% of the people on here, but that being said, if you can DIY, I think it's worth it!
LOL same here, that's the one thing missing from my built. Lucky that they didnt charge you to program the button, i have a few warranty work that needs to be done as well, so maybe i can bundle them together and hope for a "almost free" cost to program the button. But gotta wait till later this summer after all my spring quarter end and work travels (I teach part time at a university on top of my full time job) :-(

that's crazy. I think it can be done on a weekend at the most if you know your way around the garage

yeah i dont think is too bad, the only thing is that it be a lot easier with a lift (instead of jack stands) but it can be done.

Dang the second Porsche dealer quoted me $1,980 + tax and shop fees. Looks like I'll be doing this myself after all.

That's ludicrous. Really not a bad DIY, lift helps, but definitely not necessary. I didnt know what I was doing and was able to do it in less than 4. No extra parts even!

I have a 2016 base. Porsche of Livermore recently quoted me $5,700 to add the PSE which includes the button/programming.

that's def with the Bay Area premium LMAO!!!

The base might take a bit more since you need to wire in the vacuum lines but 5700 is still waaaay overpriced IMO

Do you need to elevate the rear in order to work on the car?

No worries. Yes Sunset Porsche in Beaverton! Good to meet a local RL'er. Are you a ORPCA member? Sean Kennedy helped with the parts. Super nice guy.

No prob Twobit. Glad I could be of some help, good luck! You may not have to elevate the car at all. I had it on a lift, mostly because the place had tools. I got some Rhino ramps for oil changes, that would definitely be enough if you had to raise the car at all. Two people isn't necessary, but it's nice to have someone check your work and help you hold things in place.

Just to give a couple additional data points. I have a 2012.5 C2S and two Chicagoland Porsche dealers quoted $1700 and $1900 for installation. Going to look for less expensive alternatives.

Maybe try a good reputable indie shop that specializes in Porsche? I'm going to see what they'll quote me.
