They also do a separate appraisal using market comps (in case it's actually valued higher than the agreed value) which came back at $99k... I felt it was a generic, bland appraisal, with very little if any effort put into determining the cost of my specific car if I were to try to purchase one today. I raised a stink because it seemed clear to me that this company did not perform adequate diligence... no credit for PCCBs, and several inconsistencies in the report with respect to the three car's options. I pushed hard for a re-appraisal and my insurance company thankfully agreed, so that's now underway by an estimator who has experience with exotic cars. I still have low confidence, but it's something.
Final update for posterity:
The independent appraiser valued my car at $114k which was a huge win... a full $15k more than the first appraisal and $9k more than my agreed value. Incidentally, that higher valuation also caused the salvage value to jump by $15k, which simplified things... walk away with cash in hand.

Not sure what to do about a replacement just yet... The biggest problem is that the T was such a special car, nothing short of ~$200k quite stacks up. Maybe a GT3 with a WRX-ish side-piece for daily duty? In closing: if anyone is selling their T with PCCBs, buckets, RAS, 7MT, and slick top, please let me know. To anyone coming across this in the future... I bought a 992 GTS 7MT in Shark Blue with lightweight package, LWBs, slick top, iron rotors. Has a kind of 'T' ethos but with a bit more power (and weight ).

Hmmm.... I have a T with AP Racing brakes, buckets, RAS, 7MT, and a slick top. I'm about 30mins north of you, no less. I don't know what I'd replace it with, though the silly notion of an Ariel Atom or Caterham while I'm young enough to enjoy such a car does come to mind on occasion.

Have you not considered the 992T? I'm looking at ordering one since I sold my 991.2T last April. I also used to have a WRX. Hell of a fun car. Super simple and cheap maintenance. I now have a 2023 RS3. It's in a different league and a hell of a DD. Absolutely love it, but might be a bit overkill for a daily. Still, I'm looking at adding a 992T at some point, but in no rush.

992 doesn't do it for me. 991.2 narrow body and fabric door pulls are where its at.
I kind of like the idea of having a daily beater that I don't have to worry about putting miles on, and can drive anywhere in snow. Oh yeah, I did that with the T too.

Default New Guy!

I wrote such a thoughtful post, which was deleted. Ugh. So, helloeveryone!

I have a T on order (lock date 2 weeks) and I hope to leverage your communal knowledge, but I hope to pay that back over time. I’ll wait to pose my questions.

Will be my first Porsche. Nice to meet you all!

I love your car.... but you got me looking at the Ariel Atom 4 too. I'd want the ability to tune it myself however. I'll have to research how tunable they are. I suppose the ecu and dash it comes with could just all be replaced with a new stand alone and dash.

Are you guys getting gapped by Atoms at the track? What’s the fuss?

Two ways to look at it. Four wheeled sport bike motorcycle or a full sized go-kart.

Exactly. The Carrera T is raw by 911 standards, but it’s a flying carpet compared to certain other vehicles. As far as getting lapped is concerned, I track but I only race myself.

The appeal of a Caterham or an Atom is the minimalism. It’s exactly as much is required to be a “car” and nothing more. That brings a visceral feel that no modern Porsche can come anywhere close to. Of course there are “compromises,” but one person’s compromise is another’s life-affirming sensation.

Gargey, congrats on the order… but since you’d be ordering a new car, you’ll want to jump over to the new T thread… (i.e. the 992).. here: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1230...l#post18652725

Yes. That forum has lots of good information on deviated stitching and matching colors.

Just saw this that may hit all your requirements minus PCCB:
