I surprised Adrian. We have been talking for a year, and he delivered the Forgeline wheels for my gt3 touring last June. It was great to meet in person.

Just got back from a drive in the T. I live close to Barber in AL and I have to say, Rt 25 out of Leeds maybe one of the best driving roads I’ve seen. It truly identifies the beauty and abilities of the T.

Lots of posts on the 7 speed - some like, some prefer the 6 speed. Question: is the 7 speed manual just a six speed with an extra gear off to the right? In other words - if you never select gear 7 is it different from the 6 speed?

If I run through 1st to 5th in my 7 speed what exactly would be different if the gear box was a 6 speed?

they started with 4 speed. went to 5 speed. then to 6 speed. now 7. Just dont use the taller 7th gear ?

The 7 speed and 6 speed are different boxes. The 7 speed is basically the PDK 7 speed. In manual form it's tighter spaced and easier to miss shift in the higher gears than the 6 speed. Both feel pretty great compared to a lot of other gearboxes, but the 6 speed is a better manual transmission.

For me, it's the compressed distance between the gates. I ALWAYS knew what gear I would hit downshifting the 6 MT. It definitely takes more concentration and pressure/guiding in the 7 MT. It doesn't feel like they just added another gear on the left to me. It feels like they had to shift all the other gears (gates) a bit just to add it in.

I don't cruise a lot in my T. But when I do, 7th is nice. And I don't feel under powered, thanks turbos!, when overtaking, passing, etc.

It's my only complaint on the car and not a bad problem to have. Definitely First World.

I like the 7 speed manual in my Carrera T. The first 6 gears are cake to row through. Getting into 7th takes a little feel to get but once you have it you’ll be OK.

I like the 7th gear or having the option of it, but I do think it's the least used gear for me by far. I just don't do a lot of cruising. I wish the 7MT was just a tad smoother though in the lower rev range (under 4k). It sees a bit notchy or grabby when revving under 4k. Above 4k or in the 5-7k range it's super smooth. Can't compare it to the 6 speed since I've never driven one.

Top speed is actually reached in 6th gear. I like 7th for highway cruising. But, it’s definitely challenging downshifting into 5th. I hit 3rd instead of 5th quite often and need to keep the clutch pedal engaged while I try to find 5th.

As mentioned above, the manual 7 speed is a converted PDK box with the same ratios. To make it a manual, they had to devise a rather convoluted shifting mechanism. One result is a tight shifting pattern. Once you get use to it works just fine. You just have to be a little cautious downshifting 6->5 so you don't end up in 7, or worse yet 3. The old 6 speed (or better yet the 6 speed used in the GT models) was SOOO much better! The only time I use 7 is on the highway.

I am finding this very true in my T as well. A number of times I have hit 3rd instead of 5th while downshifting. I never have that problem with the 6spd in my GT4.

It seems like when you take the T out of 6th gear, the gear lever wants to move too far over the the left (ie under 3rd gear) before you can move it up. Does anyone know if the Numeric shifter helps with this at all?

Those shoes look sweet! Did you post what they are? (Are they very narrow?)

Recharged the batteries today; aka a break in the rain.
