New to me 2018 Carrera T, 3500 miles, MT, RWS, LWB, sunroof delete, red gauges. I got destroyed on the 997 forum for my story. I had a 997.2 GTS for 5 years and 46k miles and suffered a PDK failure. I decided to get rid of it, instead of fixing to the tune of $25K. I feel that this new car is amazing, and drives in a completely different category than the 997. I was surprised I was met with so much venom.

Congrats on the new car! Curiousity for me, how did you get rid of the 997 with bad tranny, did a dealer still make you an offer?

Welcome! For whatever reason, we deal with this sorta thing regularly in the T Army. You've found the goodness and hopefully that will help assuage some of the BS. Beautiful car and you've done well in my very biased opinion!

I was lucky, had a friend who is in the car business who has the resources and facility to fix it.

The different stages of T appreciation/acceptance:
1. "It's a lame marketing gimmick to shift more 991.2 Carreras which I hate because they are turbocharged"
2. "The 991.2 Carrera is one of the better base Carreras in a long time, the engine is not all that bad, but it should have been just be an option package instead of a new model"
3. "It's a great alternative if you can't afford a GT3 Touring"
4. "I traded my GT3 for one or added one alongside my GT3"

I am man enough to admit I went through all 4 stages except for the having a GT3 part

I loved my 997.2 gts because it was special. Center locks etc...
So I wanted to replace it with something special. I feel that the "T" fit the bill, light weight buckets, MT, Light weight glass. Just so cool. And car guys know its special. With an unlimited budget I would have gone for a GT3 T, but this car at literally half the price was an easy choice.

congrats. great spec! I also went from a 997.2 GTS to the T. Its an upgrade in every way with the exception of the sound (nothing like the NASP engine) but overall T is an improvement- enjoy it!

Being an owner of the 997.2 GTS first, I felt like I had an objective opinion about how much better The 991.2 T was. Some cars feel special from the moment you sit in it. The T does it for me.

My current T plate, went with “clubsport” after watching JAnkos review of the T - if you have not watched its a must see review.

not sure anyone knows this reads “clubsport” but I know what it means :-)

I have a project E30 M3 sitting in the back yard. Does that count?
