Got it, thank you. I see there are two related threads. Saw your response on the other thread.
Why not the included visor clip for a similar location? It's too high up against the roof?

And or, why don't more people hardwire but still use the supplied suction cup mount? Because it can bounce a little?

anyhoo, waiting for my gen 2 upgrade to arrive. Will mirror tap and attach her in some fashion.

I went with blendmount for my cars after having too many suction cup mounts reliably not suck after some age. The price for this solution is fairly crazy, but am very happy with the end result.

Now if only they would make a sturdy phone holder that would clip into their mounts that I could use on track days, I’d be in heaven. Ridiculously niche “need” but I think I wouldn’t be the only person who’d want one.

Seeing the aluminum strip, I might need to fashion something like that as an alternative.

Just wanted to thank everyone for this thread. Just got my Escort 360 mounted yesterday, all good, no broken parts whatsoever!

Appreciate the write up. Purchased all the parts a couple weeks ago and jumped in to this project tonight only to find that my Carrera T doesn't have that yellow plug...

Am I SOL for this project or can I tap into the wires on the blue plug to the left?

I think purple and brown will do it but Im far from my car. Put the taps in and plug in your detecter to see if it works, if so secure the set up and enjoy.

You don't have auto-dimming mirrors, do you?

I don't have the auto dim mirror in my T. I went right into the actual map light plug on the panel that hangs down when you pop it out. Skipping the purple and wiring to black and red/black, if I recall. You get constant power from that clip, but it doesn't bother me to simply power the unit down after driving. You could also plug into the driver side clip attached to the upper housing as in the above pic, but that seems harder to reach and also stays power constant I believe. If you want it to turn off when the engine is shut down and you don't have auto dim you likely need to wire to fuse box and run the wire along the pillar and windshield.

Here is a video for a non dimming mirror tap. I did what is shown here.

I disagree. I already posted a picture in this thread showing where to tap for switched power in the blue molex connector.

The connector you reference is not there in cars without auto dimming mirror, thus the issue. They look like the picture tournewagen posted. Only the one on left side which is also constant power.

Just did the hardwire using the mirror tap for my V1 gen 2 and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the instructions.

Got mine to fit. Note that the MT-1015 works fine but I needed needle-nose pliers and I inserted them "perpendicular" to the molex - there is a little more space you can use. Not sure I saw this on the thread but you can see in my pic that my window mounted Blackvue fits behind the detector (via blendmount) with no issues. Not sure if it will cause any detection issues but space was just fine.

Happy New Year!

I opened the mirror cover on my 718 Spyder and couldn’t see the yellow connector. However I do have auto-dim mirrors.

Anyone have any idea what I can tap?

Did you find a solution for this?
