That paving method is a popular way to extend the road lifetime. The loose residual aggregate will chew up the hip area very quickly when running sticky tires. The rough surface that results from this paving method probably chews up tires faster too.

Ouch. I have similar disfiguring damage on my passenger side from a suicide rock.It happened in the first 100 miles which was disappointing.

I just bought a pair of mudflaps similar to below, and going to install them. They will be barely visible, but hopefully stop the stone throwing at my car!

Did they paint the entire rear fender, or did they just paint half and then blend into the rest of the panel?

Repaired and painted bottom half of the door and rear fender then blended in and then clear coat.

As winter ends and other drivers and rain wash the roads clean you'll have a lot less of that. Until around June when little if any remains. Last year we had a lot of snow here and tiny pebbles were the worst. This year, so far, there's been a lot less snow and the pebble count is down. I had my C4S out Sunday and Monday of this week for the first time since last November and had the pebble soundtrack again. I've had PPF installed on the lower kick panels and the back of the rear wheel lips and bottom of the rear bumper to help protect against it.
Good luck with your new 911.
Tiny pebbles? In my part of Colorado the winter "sanding" mix contains mostly 3/8 to 1/2 inch bolders.

i love the fuel probe (or whatever the military term is) on the roof. What a beast.
