Voice Control only works with AirPlay?
I cant seem to get VC to work stand alone? is that normal?

Are you sure you have VC? And by AirPlay, you mean CarPlay, right? The VC button the stalk works with CarPlay regardless of whether you actually have VC.

Thanks yes. CarPlay. Is VC a added option on the 2017 911S? When I push in at the stalk it says “voice control not available “.

Lol. True I haven’t found one that works remotely well. I like having the car play with the Siri VC. However I’m too likely to leave my IPhone in the car too often.

It works without Apple Car Play. It sucks. Siri works so much better.

The voice control on my X5M is amazing, and I use it all the time. It's really a bummer that Porsche is lagging so far behind when it comes to this. My Raptor's voice control is just adequate at best but still useful. I guess I got lucky with the BMW, because it works exactly like you'd want it to work, 99 percent of the time.

Correct. You don't have VC. As others have said - zero dollar option that dealers cannot spec on their builds (customers only). My 2018 is the same as yours - CarPlay works great.
