Default Leftover 2017 pricing thoughts ?

Gents, what are your thoughts on fair pricing on New leftover 2017 911s Cabs? Not looking to rip anyone's lungs out. Seeing 12-15% of depending on options. Do you think 20 is doable?
Also seeing some very low milage 2017 911s Cabs that are CPO'd. I'm assuming they will have a fair amount more flexibility.

TIA

Go for the lungs.

I don't think you'll get 20% off.

Make sure you know when the warranty was started (punched).

10% off means no profit for the dealer but they need to get rid of these cars. 15% off is doable with some work. No way on 20% off.

I did 23% in April 2016, buying a '15 left over with a warranty that was punched 4 months earlier.

Porsche is so secretive about the money that they give to dealers to move slow moving models that sometimes only the Sales Manager knows. I have a friend who use to work as a Porsche Sales Manager, and he told me about the time that Porsche gave the dealers a significant amount of money to move a model. It enabled them to offer 20% off of sticker and still make a nice profit. Anyway a customer came in and aggressively demanded a 12% discount. My friend smiled and told the guy that he had a deal.

Thanks the only reason I thought I might be able to do a little bit better because of the high sticker price on the car (~140k). Lots of options I don’t necessarily need, but would be nice to have.

Of course there are a lot variables. The car could have 700 miles on it or the warranty could be punched like Bemo mentioned. It could be already a one owner car. If the car is really a 2017 leftover then 15% off is a good deal.

IMO go for the throat, lungs, everything...

I would never focus on a specific percentage as you'll see what fast1 said above, but shop around for anyone who has 2017 cabs on the lot and make them work for your business. I don't think that model is flying off the shelves so I would be direct, show you are a serious buyer contingent on the right price for a new 2017 model so that they are ready to roll up their sleeves and negotiate for your business

I agree. Go for the throat , lungs, everything...just do it politely.

They don't have to take the deal if they don't want to. They have all the data, you have bupkis. I wouldn't try to mastermind their profit margins. Just work for the best you can. That said, I think you would do well to get 15% off a new car. Slightly used or CPO, the skies the limit.

When buying from existing stock, I'd recommend just trying to find two or three 17's that match your desires... unless you are really specific about our wants and can't find that many... and give all of them the chance to give you the best deal. Of course I'd tell them you are giving them the chance to compete and you'll go with the best deal. On most car's I've bought I've gotten what I think are the best results that way.

If you feel you just have to buy from a specific dealership, then expect a little less price accommodation. The local dealer will still want your car for service work regardless for where you buy it so it's still a partial win for them whichever way you go.

With the reasonably-well confirmed rumors of a multi-month factory halt on 911 production I wouldn't wait around too long to make a decision if you are serious since it may be likely that existing new cars on the lot will start thinning out soon along with their willingness to make deals on those remaining. I moved my timeline forward and bought a 17 just about a week ago partially for this reason, and partially because I found just the right car and deal not too far from home.

Go for the throat. Looking at used 2017 cars there are already some significant depreciation especially on high option cars (I posted a very high option 4S that had lost $50k in value and is still sitting). My dealer still has half a dozen 17 911 cars. 20% is totally doable in my view on a high option car.

20% for sure is possible BUT totally dependent on multiple factors.

my local dealer has '17 leftover openly advertised with 17% off. you could squeeze more out of a 2 year old car without doubt!

While 20 points off may be possible, in 99% of the times these would be none desirable cars for one reason or the other. Color, options or model.
I looked very hard but the good and wanted cars are gone very fast.
Now, if a car that’s been on the lot for over a year now is spec’d exactly how you want it, you’re are lucky buyer.

But in real life, I would buy the car of my dreams settling, even if it was for 25 points off.

I found a cery close build to what to what I wanted, but it was PDK (worth more $) and with 700 miles on it. Everything else was identical. The number I came up with on a 150K build was 30K savings before I would even consider it.

So shop smart, never be afraid to offer a much lower price that makes sense to you. But do your homework and be politically correct

there are always good deals out there. You just have to find them and make sure they answer your hearts desires.

Default deals to be had

I just recently purchased a base 991.2 '17 that was on the dealer lot for a little over 9 months. I got around 15-16%, so there are deals to be had. However, you will have to look around and find dealers willing to move inventory. It was also across the country!

I had been searching for a while and was going back and forth between 991's since my biggest NEED was manual transmission, talk bout finding that unicorn.

However, on my search i've seen quite a few cabs. Drill down on your essential needs and search, search, search.

Cargurus is your friend
