I saw one dropped by 12% before any negotiation. I almost got it but it was snapped up by the time I called.

For your reference, last weekend I picked up a '17 C4S M/T coupe, 180 miles, untitled GT Silver with Black/Bordeux interior - good build- with sticker at $150 for a 17% discount with 3.5 years of warranty remaining. I think you still have a lot of room to negotiate on the one you're considering.

Excellent. Thank you very much for the information?
I am beginning to think that I can find more value for price in a new old stock 991.2 than in a used 991.1
I am not a purist so I don't think that the turbo 3.0 is a big negative. How does a .2 drive compared to a .1? I bet they are both just as fun.
I have not driven a .2 yet since I have not considered this model until a few days ago. I drove a .1 for the first time 2 weeks ago and really liked it.
I don't mean to cause a rehashing of stuff but I would appreciate your quick opinion.

Thank you,
CB

Well, I never drove a .1 to compare, but I did have a 997.2, which used the same engine (9A1), however revised. The 991.2 has a very nice upgraded manual transmission (over the .1) with a dual disk clutch- it really seems excellent. I was also wanting to move to the newer engine design, too, as my 997.2 used a bit of oil (normal) and was pretty sooty since it was an earlier DFI design. As I understand it, the new 3.0 has thicker cylinder walls that, in my mind, should make it less prone to bore scoring that some 997.2 engines were prone to (especially in the 3.8 variety) if not warmed up properly (cylinder would become misshapen down low, causing the scoring) and as I understand it, the 3.0 motors moved away from the alusil linings for the cylinder walls to something else more durable to improve on the oil consumption issues. In the 400 miles I've driven, (car has 560 miles now) I've noticed my exhaust tips staying much cleaner inside than on my 9A1 engine.

Take all I say with a grain of salt- this all comes from light research on these forums and the internet in general

Thanksa lot. I appreciate it.
I think I will look at both .1 and .2 and look for the best value car I can find with the options I want.

Default Good luck

I had a chance to get a nicely spec’d 2017 c2s (MT, sport package, premium package, bose, glass sunroof, those retroish 5-spoke 20” rims) with a color scheme I really liked (white w full leather blue interior, aluminum trim), for almost 20% off (I think they advertised it at 15% off), because 1) it was a ‘17 and the ‘18’s were on the lot, and 2) the dealer had driven it for 7 or 8 months and it had 1400 miles, and 3) I did my shopping a few days before New Years, when they’re trying to tally a few final sales.

I also got a CPO applied, and the extra years of warranty definitely compensated nicely for the little bit of mileage.

Neighbor asked “it’s brand new?”, and I said “nah, a year old”, and wondered if he hated me 1-2% less.
