The harness seemed to be fine.

One theory is that possibly my battery is on the way out and with the erisin unit confusing the car through CANBUS it triggers the alarm. Will try to put it back on next weekend and see if it does it again

When I installed an aftermarket HU with Nav in my 2004 350Z many years ago, I mounted the antenna wart on top of the dashboard right in the center and close to the glass. It's small, black, matches the dash, making it barely noticeable. Routed the extra long wire along the glass. The wire wasn't visible.

I still have my 2004 350Z. On mine, I found a compartment under the dash where Nissan would install the OEM GPS and I used that. The plastic dash did not affect the signal.

I know that the erisin unit keeps the car alive a bit longer so I decieded to take it off and put the stock unit back on and the alarm issue stopped.

Has anyone had this issue before? Why would the erisin unit cause the alarm to go off?
You battery might be getting weak, worth a check if your battery is aging.

I still miss it. Should have kept it and made it a track spec'd car. But I needed the garage space.

I have received the chstek 7862 but the MOST box it came with was for a PCM4.0 radio which did not work with my CDR-31. The only one I can find from CHSTEK says that it is for the PCM 3.1. Anyone know if that will work on the CDR-31?

Yes it should be fine, the only difference between the two units is the lack of navigation I think. The interface between both units and the car should be identical

update on the alternator noise. after powering the filter box on the yellow B+, the noise can still be heard when the motor is cold, but it is much quieter and gone after a minute or so of driving. completely gone once the car is warmed up.

Doesn't look like this box is for sale. Guess they custom made it just for you 😃

I wonder if the noise goes away after something on the car warms up or once the Chstek and the various attached components warm up? Not that it really matters! Glad you have a fix that works.

Could be worth asking if the box is for sale somewhere..

Also when the GPS time is turned off, the mini analog clock hands don't return to zero, but to some different position every time. Any ideas?

Thanks
I got curious and looked at my sport chrono. For almost a decade, I never realize that was a clock, and I also just realize the minute needle fell off I also think my time is still correct based on where the hour needle is located. I think your problem is a faulty sport chrono. I've seem other post about this in the past but never occur to me there was an analog clock there. Anyway, that clock is so pointless that I don't even know why it's there other than for aesthetic. If one argue they can't see a time when they are in chrono mode, you can check the time in the cluster.

I agree and think it is a faulty Sport Chrono gauge. They are ordering a new gauge. I'll report back with the results. Thanks for the help

I have been looking for a fairly non-invasive solution with the current PCM 3.1 for my 2014 991.1 and expect the PCCM+ for this model is still 5-10 years away.

I found this on Suncoast, spoke to them about it, watched the install video, and sent a few questions to the company.

Looks to be a seamless, fairly simple install that maintains all original capability of the stock PCM.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

That will be one of the add-on boards. There are many types from the likes of Isudar, NMautomotive, JoyeAuto, Mr 12 volt and there are a lot of resellers who just rebadge some of these boards and offer it as their own. I am guessing the GTA solution is a rebadged version.

There are lots of dedicated forums for these boards with people with direct experience of them who might have seen or used this particular unit. I had a JoyeAuto unit for a few months myself (it came with my car) but I removed it in favour of the full replacement units that you'll read about here

I wont go into the pros and cons of an upgrade board versus a full head unit replacement as it's such a subjective topic and is the only thing that causes this otherwise very friendly and helpful forum to descend to the depths of the rest of the internet!
