You may already have tried it but there is a possibly “nuclear option” in the updates screen in the form of the restore factory settings button. May or may not work to solve your issue. May also brick your unit for good as we do not know what the needed working configuration is to be restored.

Please keep us updated on the radio buttons that you ordered. They look like a nice addition.
I (inadvertently) pressed that factory reset button. The unit rebooted OK, but, as expected, all my settings were lost. Also Zlink disappeared and I had to find it on the net and download and reinstall it. Other than that, no harm done. Andy might try it before he finally pulls it and installs the new Erisin unit in its place. Andy is spending a lot of money on his quest to get this working as it should - he ought to start a crowdfunder for it LOL

Ha Ha, maybe I'll put it on eBay... "One careful owner..."

It does mean we can use my old HU as a bit of a test mule and experiment with it

I'll try the factory reset option before I replace it with the new HU so we can add to the knowledge of what it does and what the end result is. In theory it should revert my MCU software to the later version. Can't do it this weekend though as I'm going away and do need a functioning radio at the very least!

At some point I'll open it up and post some pics of the motherboard etc

Erisin already contacted me by email to ask if I neded the Bose adapter, I replied to say no, and they replied acknowledging my reply! Ha ha - I hope their technical support is as responsive if I get the bright light problem again!

The response so far looks promising. If just one seller of Android HUs offered decent support, they'd clean up.

These arrived today.

They are meant to look like the OEM Porsche *****, and they more or less do. Does anyone know how the HU ***** are removed? Is it just a hard pull? I tried earlier and pulled as hard as I dared for fear of breaking something but they wouldn't budge. I may try with a trim/pry tool and see if that works. Any advice welcome.

Hi, yes they just pull off - dig your fingers in behind them and lever them forward and they'll come off.

I bought some OEM style ***** to try but they are not deep enough and so there was a gap between the base of the **** and the face of the HU - hope you have more luck!!

Thanks Andy. I suspect the OEM-style ***** I got will also be too shallow then. They are way shallower than the HU originals. I'll report back when I have tried them.

Could do it in a second with the Dremel I guess. I tend to shy away from, anything irreversible though.

Did this ever work for anyone? I also had a light hissing noise if the volume is on.

@andy2111 Regarding #1965, I was hoping that this setting is related to amplification of the audio output because my HU is set to "None" and I do not have the audio hiss. But pure speculation, I do not have any hard evidence on this one and I cannot validate my theory because I do not have the hiss.
I think that the setting to control the digital output port is "Digital Output Type" in the DSP Settings screen. But again, best guess.

Also - I misplaced my manual. What is the code to access the factory settings?

Quick status on my efforts to get support from Erisin and my vendor. Not surprisingly, Erisin didn't answered my email asking if they will provide support for a fee (customer support subscription) but at least I tried. And my vendor is missing in action: didn't get any answer at all to my emails and AliExpress messages.
I think that Andy's decision to buy directly from Erisin even if it is a bit more expensive is a good approach for others in this forum that are interested on buying this HU. As for every piece of technology, support will be needed and is important.
I would have definitely ordered my unit from Erisin if I knew at that time what was the real brand of the unit and that I could order it directly from them.

With credit given to posters in another forum, a few more codes that give access to factory settings. Explore at your own risks and please post anything useful/interesting you find.
