M4 to 991.2 Base Carrera?

LOL Rear seats and trunk space are hardly selling points for a 911, even amongst its most ardent advocates.

I daily drove MZ3, MZ4, and 2015 F80 M3 (3 years). All manuals. My 991.2 (7mt) just crossed 2k miles so I haven't even driven it hard yet. Loved the M3 and wouldn't have traded it for a 991.1 7mt. Folks poo poo the 3 series underpinning, but the 3 series ergos and form factor are ideal. HUD was priceless. But, for me, the 991.2 is far and away the better daily driver, and worth the premium and the tight space. Fun factor, solid feel, sound are just a world apart. Not as easy to drive in traffic, but more interesting.

IMO not much really needs to be said as cars is very subjective. Sit in the M3/4, sit in the 991.2. Take both on a test drive. I'll wager you end up with the 991.2 in the garage at the end of the day

My personal ideal 911/M3 fleet is a 991.1 and the legendary E46 (sports coupe-based-on-sedan perfection, imo never to be topped as those high revving N/A I6’s are no more, and that clean timeless styling and proportion is getting harder to come by). Both are instantly classic for being the last of/best of a revered kind, and I think as such will both do well going forward in terms of resale value.
I’ve been eyeing E46’s for a while, but just can’t get myself to get into the effort and cost it may take to upkeep it. Also, prices on all older N/A M cars have started to move up, ever since the F80’s came out and just didn’t capture the same magic.
The E92 is a legend in its own right with that one off, bespoke V8. But an N/A I6 is just the heart of the M3 to me.
F82 M4? Imo, will be soon forgotten when the next FI with coddled sound decibel levels and stupid-level-of-“donut specialist”-torque comes out and keeps furthering it from the potion that made the M3 famous to begin with.
And for some reason I never loved M3 sounds, but the F80/F82 is like double trouble there. One thing on top of another contributing to what is a sound I’ve seen even owners call “a terrible joke.”

The M3/4 has sound pumped into the car via the stereo. This is an artificial sound made by a computer and not to be confused with the 911 which has a mechanical sound mechanically funneled into he car. Also, the throttle on the new M cars is programmed to be on or off. You can't really modulate it and there is little difference between pressing the pedal 2/10 and 9/10 so it "feels" more powerful.
