Agreed. My "T-like S build" is ~$125k so 5% off makes the diff ~$7k. Very cheap for 50hp and bigger (front only) brakes.

In the end, I'm having fun building a T, but I'm not going to be trading-in the 991TT any time soon.

My wife on the other hand, is missing her manual. Her PDK 981CS might be on the block at some point. On the flip side, she likes her exhaust loud. But, can't go into THAT bucket of worms unless I go back to the other thread.

The gearing would be one of the major selling points for me.
Can't wait to see some specs published.

Hopefully the diff is an easy retrofit at the very least if these are tough to come by or dealers start trying to adjust the price.

I am loving this "T", why I am not sure but I love it.

Couple of heavily optioned builds in this thread. I'm of the view that this should be a great stripper car. The more you take off the better it is.

The 911T I believe is a great tribute to the natural abilities of the base Carrera. It's amazing how truly minor the revisions are to the car to make a base into a T, which tells me the base Carrera is very much a maximized package. It's also pretty neat that what was once S only options can be had on T.
The T is not for me, really no interest in the incremental performance the T provides. The weight savings is so small, I can take my matts out, the owners manual, my radar detector, digital tire gauge, a few less gallons of gas in the tank, knock off a few pounds from me and be well ahead of the T's weight saving.
The T is destined to be a specialty car and will likely be quantity limited. They will have no problem selling them.

New Panorama says 992 base retains 3L turbo motor but with a bump to 415 HP. I'm guessing there'll be a price bump too, but I'd think a well optioned coupe could be had for 120. Always the same debate about the last and best of the old models or the new tech and power of the new. I need to think on this one........that's a lot of HP, and I'd have to believe they'll continue to make advancements in sound and throttle response.

Nice bump! Is that the biggest bump to date?

Holy crap! That is a huge bump which is unusual for Porsche. I thought they would leave some room for another bump for the 992.2 but maybe they already have that margin with these new turbos.

The question is whether the bump comes from software or new turbochargers.

If it's just software then it really isn't much of anything.

The base car is already making over 400 hp based on dyno's so this is just Porsche making sure to maintain the model hierarchy artificially.

The factory 991.2 base 9A2 turbos have another 80+ hp in them as they sit (only 13 psi stock) so we'll see what Porsche does. They certainly gave themselves headroom.

No. 991.1 3.4 to 991.2 3.0 is the biggest actual output bump to date for a Carrera in Porsche history. Nevermind what the figures say on paper...

There is a lot of headroom with this engine as it was designed for two cycles e.g. 991.2 and 992.1

.2 base/T = 450Nm and 370HP
.2 S = 500Nm and 420HP
.2 GTS/51 = 550Nm and 450HP

and the 992.1 will look like

992.1 base = 500Nm >400HP (most likely ~ 420)
992.1 S = 550Nm >450HP (most likely ~ 450)
992.1 GTS = 600NM >500HP (most likely ~ 480)

With regard to the T, I think I would definitely spec RAS - it really is super effective and works seamlessly with PTV, with S-Pasm and short gears it'll be a great corner carver.

This-^

Almost no point in a T without RAS.

I would think this engine was designed for the 992.2 as well so they need to allow some additional headroom for HP increases. I had to read the new Panamera Magazine to verify the HP increases for the 992. Base will be 415hp and S will be 463hp. Wow.

My ideal Porsche is a 930 body and exterior (exactly) but with a 991.1S 3.8L engine with a 991.2 interior.

But to get back on topic: The 911T just sounds fantastic to me. If this model had come out before I bought my 2018 911, I would have chosen the 911T. If it had a NA engine with a wider body (or fender flares like the 930), my 911 with 3900 miles on it would be listed in STG's HFS thread yesterday....and I wouldn't give a **** about the 30k depreciation that I already have taken.

Would people view the 911 T differently if they knew it was already over 400 horsepower?
