Last thing I heard was that no 992 was to be a hybrid. Never say never though,....and if they do have a hybrid "version" of the 911 that's fine, just so I never have to buy it.

It's strange that he would tell me that. Hmm. Also the renderings that I have seen of the interior layout look hideous and I can't imagine a MT in that console. Another concern is increasing the radar reflectivity by replacing the curved angles with flatter surfaces.

Anyway, we will see what they offer. We are only seeing test mules.

Nice spy shots! I also heard Porsche confirmed no hybrid in the 992.

If you've ever driven a 911 before the 964, you'll know the A/C systems were dreadful. In the late '80s, PCA held their annual Porsche Parade convention in southeast Wisconsin in late July. At this time of year it gets pretty hot and steamy in the Midwest. Not Houston or NOLA steamy, but it's still very "sticky".

Peter Porsche was to attend the event as he often does, and PCNA made sure he had a new 911 to pickup and drive from Chicago to the event. Over the week he had the car, he experienced what poor A/C performance these cars had.

When he returned to Germany an investigation ensued as to why the system was so bad. It turns out that that Porsche heat tested their cars during development in very hot climates, but they were in desert climates, NO humidity! Changes to A/C development and testing ensued. The cool air pouring from Porsche A/C today is due to a Porsche family member experiencing first hand what people had been saying for years about the poor performing A/C system.
As a Las Vegas resident, I can confirm that Porsche A/C is by far the best of any car I've ever driven. My BMW's have all had terrible A/C that doesn't get all that cold even on max level, especially when it's 115 degrees outside. The Porsche is ice cold even when it's hot as hell.

Interesting that it's just a single vehicle. No chase vehicles, no groups of test cars like you see in most on street pics.

Saw one in DC/MD area on beltway some months ago. The taillight was illuminated and I was chasing it with my GTS. Couldn't snap a picture though as it was in moderate traffic.

I think another local guy saw it around that time on the Dulles Thruway. I believe they have some R&D center near Reston or Herndon?

Looks production ready. I wonder if they'll try to squeeze it in during 2018 (as a 2019)?

Wait what? Those aren't bad at all given the circumstances. You could qualify for a job snapping spy photos for an automotive trade rag! Well done.

I swear I saw one in Potomac, MD a couple weeks ago. Black, with taillight illuminated, and it had the vertical PORSCHE model designation. I thought I was just imagining it after spending too much time on Rennlist. Lol. Maybe it was real after all.

The wheels. Sort of a compromise between CL looks & lugnut benefits. Nice.
