There was no category for I can only afford a .1 so the .2 is not even on my radar.

Old; I prefer the quickest MT car I can afford. Had a .1 TT but did not like PDK.
MIGHT have been able to get a MT GT3 allocation but didn't want CL wheels and DID want ventilated seats. Open air option is attractive too.
My X51 .2 Targa 4S with all the goodies is "just right" for me.
For now.
FWIW, I think any lag (which I'm not good enough to notice) is more than offset by the amazing low end torque. In all fairness, I don't care at all about how "good" it sounds. In my world, that has nothing to do with driveability, performance or enjoyment.

Mid 50s, like the NA but love the turbos. My 991.2 was my first 911. My first turbocharged car was a 2009 BMW 535i (sorry I sold it) and then moved to a 2014 Mercedes E550 Cabriolet (sorry I bought it). Fear not the turbo and let your right foot have some joy. Embrace the whistle and hiss. The growl is now deep inside the machine.

This whole turbo vs. NA nonsense is just nonsense and there's no rhyme or reason why someone prefers one over the other beyond personal preference. Why does one person prefer silver cars and another blue?

There is no right or wrong and it's childish that some people feel the need to justify their decision or criticize someone else's. Who cares what someone else drives or why, as long as they're enjoying it?
Agree. This is the answer to every PDK vs Manual, TTS vs GT3, .1 vs .2 debate on this forum.

If you are on here...you probably own a 911. And if you own a 911, you are probably biased towards that version. So the results are going to be all over the place. I know I am biased... It all just depends on what you are looking for. Both have major pros in different areas. They are both fantastic but for me the 991.2 won out. I'm guessing 99% of 991.1 owners think the 991.1 is better, and there are a lot more 991.1's out there than 991.2's. But interesting poll nonetheless.

So the not so young guys like the NA and the not so old guys like the NA.
Also the not so young guys like Turbo and the not so old guys like the Turbo.
So what have we learned and why are we talking about this again?

So we can confirm our biases "OH it's just the geezers/whippersnappers that like the .1/.2 better. Obviously all the sensible people agree with ME that the .1/.2 is BEST."

NA all the way. I don't really think this is an age correlated issue though.

I was in a row of 3 911's, one a new Turbo, the other a new C4S. Both were trying to race me (I didn't bite, so they just "played" with each other) but MAN were their cars quiet, muffled, bland and docile sounding. Once I pulled onto another street and got it to merely 3,500 RPM's, the sounds my car (.1 CS with X Pipe) made were worth more to me than their HP advantages, honestly (well, I would like the 500++ HP TT ). That's how mechanically viscerally soulful, riveting and pleasurable the sounds this car makes are.

Default Prefer NA but acknowledge the turbo's superior power

50+ and although I prefer the throttle response from the NA motor (mine), I've driven the .2 turbo and acknowledge it is faster with a much thicker torque curve. At least in S guise.

Except for those of us over 70. We voted for .2 turbos over .1 NA by a margin of 5 to 1.

I guess. Kind of a small sample size even for the small survey though. But even if we assume it's reasonable to extrapolate it, why do you think that is?

Either way it's a 991 thread, so it's not really old vs new per say, or an issue of tech in general. What about older drivers would point to a preference in turbos? I could see PDK vs MT or 4 way vs 18 way seats etc. but why would more seasoned drivers prefer turbos?
