Default Break-in Oil Change?

I just eclipsed the 2000 mile mark on my .2 C2S so I'm finally done with the engine break-in…. I got a chance to launch yesterday afternoon and it was noticeably quicker than my M4! It’s amazing how well these cars can put the power down. I've heard some members say that they performed an oil change at this point but the dealer said I don't have to do anything until the 10K/1 year mark. What is the official recommendation? Thanks!

I'll hit 8000 miles today, and haven't done an oil change yet (Saturday car will be 4 months old). My dealer also said it wasn't necessary for early oil change. I agree the launch control is great, but I prefer just smashing the gas pedal in sport plus from a stop - engine revs to 3500rpm and then it goes. My G-meter shows 1.03 when I do this. I get 1.05 when I use Launch Control.

I did an oil change on my .2 S a couple weeks ago at 2k miles since I have two trackdays. Based on the oil color, it seemed as if it could last a few more thousand miles. I personally would change my oil in this car every 7,500 miles tops.

changed mine at 2000 miles, it's unnecessary but it satisfies my OCD. If your a DIY'er, it's very easy to do .....

Your dealer is correct, as are the Rennlisters, IMO, who do the early, 1,000 mile-ish, oil change (me included). Take your pick.

Here's a "Golden Oldie" from 2015:

Can't go by that metrics, alone.

I just did my first oil change at 2k miles on my .1 GTS Targa. (Within the first year of ownership.) The factory told me it was absolutely unnecessary when we picked up the car in Stuttgart; however, I did it for peace of mind.

Installed a magnetic drain plug and sent a sample to Blackstone for a baseline analysis since I'm OCD.

The manual is the official recommendation, just follow your dealer's schedule maintenance.

More important than doing an early oil change is getting your oil up to temperature and cooling down your oil before turning off your engine.

I have done an early oil change because I wanted to change the oil viscosity from 0W40 to 5W50 since I live in Miami, FL and I plan to keep the car forever. I push my car to 7400rpm whenever I can; therefore, I feel better changing my oil every 5000 miles or 1 year whichever comes first.

For those leasing "It's a rental don't be gentle".

Its never been about the oil being able to go 10k/1yr. Its all about the oil filter and its durability.

Are you saying oil filter will not last 10,000 miles or 1 year?

I changed mine at about 1,700 miles acknowledging that it wasn't required, but the oil and parts cost < $100 and took me about an hour to do. Peace of mind given that my plan is to keep this car for a long time.
