Default Someone please buy this Turbo S

I test drove this new TTS yesterday at a Porsche dealer in Florida. It is an incredible car to drive. Lots of cool details and options. The retractable aero is one of the coolest I've ever seen. I dealt with a really relaxed and non salesman like guy there. If anyone is interested PM me as this is not an advertisement but a recommendation!

Wrong steering wheel, in my opinion, sadly.

But nice, nonetheless. Hopefully someone here will pick it up and enjoy.

I am picking up a launch TTS today with the same ill-conceived multi-function steering wheel ordered. The dealer agreed to change it out to the sport design. The replacement, including stalks will be done over the next few weeks.

The wheel mounted shifters are all wrong too. Definitely needs paddles.

When I ordered my 991S my dealer convinced me to give the carbon MF wheel a shot,....if I didn't like it I could swap. After living with it for a few weeks I would never go with the SD no matter how "kewl" the paddles are. The stalk just blows compared to it. Being my first PDK car (manuals before) I use the console shifter anyway, but when I do use the wheel it's nice I have both up and down function on each side.

The CF MF wheel also looks fantastic,....the SD still looks a bit plasticky in the car. The paddles don't work any faster compared to the buttons or stick.

Its the same as why some people will choose black, white or some other exterior color, just different. Great we have choices.

Thats the issue right there! Its hard getting your head around this after having owned a few paddle shift cars where left paddle means downshift and right paddle means upshift!

Anybody else notice how cool that GT Silver cab with the clear tail lights looks in JD's first post? I am seriously (now) thinking about changes my TTS colour from black to GT Silver with the lenses. First was blue blue, then became rhodium silver blue - then black black...now GT Silver Black (with clear lenses ). My salesman will likely not take my calls anymore..

Like smoked lenses, it looks 'teen'ish'. To each their own though.

Actually the clear lens on the 991 look better compared to the 997. I've seen quite a few clear lens on 991s,....and by far the best color for them is white.

My dealer has a white on black 991S with black wheels, black PDL lights and clear tail lights,....it actually looks pretty darn good!

Would I pick them on my car,.....ahhhh....no, but they do look better then before.

I think this post is very telling. Please buy this TTS. Confirms opinions I have expressed elsewhere that Porsche is going to have to try to sell this car, pent up demand isn't likely. Why. Price point, major depreciation, not enough of an advance over the 997TTS, and almost none regarding styling. The 991 TTS is almost a non-event IMHO.

No boost gauge in the cluster?

Interesting.

??? Don't you get the fact that the styling has taken major clues since the very first "real" 911? It would suck royally if there was a huge style change.

Would you prefer that they do a Mustang thing? Gee, here's a real "winner" style change:

It is selectable. Not a great pic but this is how I have mine configured. Boost gauge on top, turns red when over boost on.
