Default 991 Turbo S looks soft?

Am I the only one that thinks the new 991 Turbo looks soft? It just doesn't have the edge to it that the 997 had. I don't like the rear deck and the absence of an aggressive front splitter softens the car up. Maybe it will be different in person. I'm ordering one based on the performance specs alone. But the looks have me on the fence.

I think you should try and see one in person.

I think it does look softer than a GT3, but I don't see thanks a bad thing.

IMHO What Porsche needs is a a more track-focused "Tweener" Model with the 560 HP TTS Engine but without the PCCB brakes, a $9,210 option on the TT and without the troublesome Center Lock Wheels,
a $3,835 option on the TT. Just removing those brings the MSRP down to $169,000 and eases the cost of track focused maintenance and replacement of brakes and tire. Porsche PCCB Rotor replacements alone cost $20,000 vs $2,000 for Steel.

I think the issue is with the nonaggressive looking front end. I'd wonder if you could put the GT3 front end on it without much issue. Granted, you'd lose the active front splitter.

I know it helps performance ultimately but I would like to see to turbo inlets removed.from the rear fenders, that's wings to you English blokes, for me I fell in love with the 993 Turbo which didn't need the inlets on the fenders either!

Sure its a damn easy way to point out and say "Hey there's a turbo there's a turbo" but I care not for that. I just want it wide and low, ya know like how I like my women. I would like to see it eliminated altogether. But I don't think it adds all that much aesthetically and would much rather have it be done with. The wholes on the fenders are just a distraction and takes away from a times-less Body Design that the master Ferdinand Porsche Penned way back in 1939.

The air inlets are not there for aesthetics, they serve a much more important purpose for a car with this level of performance, which is to bring cold air to the intercoolers.
How do you suggest they should do that efficiently?

I have no suggestions on how to do it, they are the engineers. I just like the older 993 and previous look. Perhaps bigger intercoolers or multiple intercoolers.

Also Porsche didn't find it all that difficult to get 500bhp out of the GT3RS4.0 without the inlets or Dan and Alex at Sharkwerkz getting 500bhp out of their 3.9 conversion again without the inlets.

It can be done but, BIG BUT here. the most obvious and direct and simplest way is to do what they already are doing. Which isn't going to change. So ultimately its just a wish of mine I can dream about in my sleep time because its just too impractical to do any other way! That much I understand. Though for nostalgia's sake it sure would look cool for this nut's inner child and aesthetic desires.

I agree; looks soft. Appeals more to the SL crowd than the Porsche purists. Can't deny performance though.

If you look at the RUF (pre 991) turbo they did a real nice take on the air ducts with a turbocharged engine... There aren't any.

RUF managed to figure it out..

Now that is what I'm talking about. The ducts are kewl, I like them. But I just like the classic styling without the ducting. Just more visualizing to me. What can I say, the first 911 I really fell in love with, and consequently the Porsche markee, was the 993 Twin Turbo in "Arena Red".

Which consequently again when I do finally order my 911 TT it will be in Arena Red. Nostalgia, what can you say? Just like why I like the AC Bristol more so than an AC Cobra. There are a hell of a lot less of the Bristols too.
