Carbon Fiber Wheels - 991.2 Turbo
Has anyone had any experience with Carbon Fiber Wheels on a 991.2 Turbo. Have seen several cars with them as a high price option and wondering what are the downsides to having these Wheels. Thanks!

The downside is that they are not repairable with even minor damage. They are abject failures in a cost/benefit analysis. Kiss a curb, they are done.
The same amount of minor damage on any aluminum wheel can be fixed for $150 or under.

They look great, when people see my car that is all they talk about and I can not wait to take them off and replace them with BBS.
As indicated above, they are not repairable and Suncoast quoted me over $35K for a full replacement set. So replacement cost is the single biggest downside. Besides that, they are super cool!

Carbon Fiber Wheels - 991.2 Turbo
Was looking at a 991.2 for sale that really had all the right options
( it wasn't a Turbo S) and the wheels are a deal breaker for me. I would not want the car with the Carbon wheels unless I had a spare set.

Not sure if the OP means a full carbon wheel or something like the Forgelines or HREs that just have the carbon barrel. Much cheaper than $35k, but still a lot with likely similar downsides on the damage.

I know someone that cracked two in a little over a year on potholes and went to OEM aulminum after the second incident.

Reduction of rotational mass for race application is handy but they force all flex into the sidewalls on high torque cars and as the sages have mentioned, street use is only fun if you have "F everyone money" for replacement sets. The construction quality thing is another major concern for safety - tons of scary knockoff stuff out there unless you're buying from a reputable manufacturer direct and shattered rims aren't quite the same thing as a broken spoke especially at speed. I've looked into these a few times over the years for the r35 to use in race environments and the only place which made >1k lbft safe ones back in the day went fully commercial for automakers only (no aftermarket) around covid time. They told me that the margins on bespoke stuff like my car just aren't there for results they feel comfortable warrantying for that kind of use - apparently there is a lot of fail involved in weaving wheels out of carbon and resin polymers.

Everyone have different tastes. Wheels are one of the easiest things to swap on these cars and if a car that I am looking at is equipped with CF wheels, it would not stop me from purchasing it.
One thing that there is to like about them is if someone is willing to buy them off of you for half the price of the OEM cost. That I would really like :-)
