Maybe Roman knows.

Mine connects automatically as soon as key hits the ignition switch, even if my phone is left in the house with car in the attached garage. Once connected, I simply select the apps I want on the CarPlay menu.

I do have a question about digital audio.

If I connect to the Mr12Volt system via Bluetooth, doesn’t this involve some loss of audio quality vs. a wired connection? I tried my system yesterday via wired connection and it worked well. I actually don’t mind a wired connection because it charges my phone and keeps it in the glovebox, out of the way.

Mine automatically connects, but I have to make that one adjustment. It shows that music is playing but it’s inaudible.

The wired connection in your TS is just a battery charger with Mr12Volt.

That could be because of a weak cellular connection. Also try selecting a different app on the CarPlay menu, not on your phone.

I don’t think that’s it, but I’ll play around with it and see.

It will be a little while before I drive my 911 again. I’ve got brand new summer tires mounted and we got about 38” of snow at my house over the last 2 days.

Last thought here . . . I have found certain music streaming apps to be glitchy, but they are in our 3 other OEM CarPlay-equipped vehicles as well. Pandora, and Amazon Prime Music CarPlay music apps sometimes on rare occasion show they are playing, but no volume. They'll come back automatically with a stronger cell signal. The SiriusXM and Apple Music apps seem to be more reliable.

It's much like using apps on the phone only. Sometimes they freeze or close for no apparent reason and have to be reopened. That's probably not a CarPlay or Mr12Volt problem, which is in some sense just mirroring what your phone is doing.

It happens even with a strong signal or on WiFi in my garage. When I switch the output on the phone, the music starts immediately. It happens with Spotify or Pandora.

Default Isudar of Mr12volt?

Hi guys, looks like I’ve come to the right place. I have a Boxster 981S with pcm3.1. Currently playing audio through Bluetooth but I am looking into the PCM mods that are out there. I really need Waze so CarPlay into the unit seems the best solution.

which of these two boards would be the best and why?
Isudar or Mr12volt?

Both work for CarPlay, and it depends upon what you value most. Mr12Volt provides the best sound quality because it's the only one that retains the PCM 3.1 and provides all digital outputs. Isudar requires digital to analog conversion, which degrades sound a quality.

Mr12Volt is a bit more expensive, and requires installation of an external module in addition to to the board inside the HU. However, that's easy to hide under the dash next to the steering column

I chose Mr12Volt, and am very happy with superb sound quality coming through my OEM Bose system. CarPlay works just like OEM, and all PCM 3.1 functions remain by simply changing back to an OEM source. It has worked for me flawlessly. If sound quality isn't important to you, Isudar is cheaper, but we're only talking maybe $200 less.

ALL systems require a board be installed into the pcm. If your going that far why not make it the best. Even base, none bose systems benifit from the mr12volt CarPlay modules when it comes to sound quality.

Mr12volt just won't work on cdr3.1

If the Mr.12Volt system only connects via bluetooth audio, then what’s the purpose of the included USB connection? There are other USB ports in the car, so if it’s just there to charge the phone then it’s redundant. Can it be configured to connect the phone through the USB connection rather than bluetooth? This solution would provide the best audio quality, wouldn’t it?

It connects through a combination of Bluetooth and wifi.

The USB connection is fir stored media like locked or music on a USB stick. You can also use it for a wired CarPlay connection, or even to swap out the splash screen.

Thanks for that information.

Will my system automatically connect via wired connection if I connect my iPhone to the Mr. 12Volt USB port? What about the other USB ports, like the one in the glovebox? Will this port connect to the Mr. 12Volt?

Which splash screen do you mean - the one that says Mr. 12Volt? Can you share that procedure?

Thanks very much.
