Thoughts on Eventuri Carbon Fiber Intake
Leadfoot, if you don't post your reviews or thoughts on the sound change from that intake don't bother coming back to rennlist at all. You MUST tell. Don't care if stock flows better or any of that stuff. I'm purely interested in knowing what sound changes were made...
- The sound of air rushing into the turbos at *part* throttle is MUCH louder than with the OEM airbox - the decibel difference is so significant I thought there must be a giant hole in the firewall.
- Full throttle sounds are approximately the same as OEM airbox - meaning, it's loud in there but I can't tell a difference in decibel level with OEM airbox vs. Eventuri
- The character of all the different turbo related sounds during light or full throttle acceleration is different - meaning, the whistling and even the sound of the diverter valves opening/closing is different than it was with the OEM airbox. Best way I can describe it is less shrill? Not a musician so I don't know what pitch/octaves/sharps etc mean anyway.
- At cruise and no boost, I don't hear any difference at all versus OEM airbox - which means relatively quiet even with my exhaust that has no drone.
So, is there a performance benefit?
- I have no idea. If it's any faster than before, I can't tell. I even had my shop and Sam review a data log - everything looked good and no changes to the tune after Eventuri install. I'm going to wait another couple months for the weather to get colder here and then get another dragy run to compare 60-130 to last year, but how useful will that be for comparison anyway considering all the variables involved 12 months later?
Would I do this again?
- Yes. I knew going in that performance changes are not necessarily proven. So, I did this because I like the idea of more carbon fiber things on/in the car and because I *really* like the idea of more/louder turbo related noises. I wish I could have read someone else's comments that I wrote above before I went forward with this (i.e. wish someone else would have posted detailed observations on this mod), but even if I had read it before, I would make the same choice to get this mod anyway.
Hope this helps somebody considering Eventuri. As long as I take the bumper off, it sure looks cool!

Here are my views on the sound difference with Eventuri versus OEM airbox (note that I already had DO88 inlet pipes, Forge diverter valves and a BMC filter so the comments below have to be considered with those non-OEM mods in mind):
