The 991 has not been getting a lot of love from me lately, especially since I removed the AWD system from the 996.... It is truly remarkable how the dynamics and efficiency have changed.
This morning, I took it for a 60 mile loop and ran it on cruise at 62mph (100kmh), and much to my delight, it turned back mileage that was 1.7mpg better than my best run with the AWD system installed.
The engineering in our cars, past or present, is remarkable - they are solid, efficient and give us (or at least me) the feeling of satisfaction, especially when breaking the back end free through two gears....
One day, I'll tear into the 991, and I would hope that being a direct injection motor, with a huge gjly efficient gearbox, I can get better than 30mpg average while cruising.
Cool - I miss that old dash (had a 996 40th anniversary back in the day)
Are you planning on taking the 991 to 2WD? I personally wouldn't consider it as my car has too much power and I feel that the AWD is a security blanket. Maybe an unmodified car would be a good candidate?

Even with my ES850 setup, when cruising on the highway in 7th gear for 100 miles or more, I have seen an average 27+ mpg with a high of 29.2 at one point.
I think a drive cross country would turn up 30+.
These cars can be darned efficient.

Absolutely not, in the 991 it is a much more integrated system, as you noted. In the 996, it only put 30hp forward, the 991 can do 50 percent, if I'm reading the gauge properly.

That's very good, best I've seen is 26/7 , but with a hot set of turbos and very little throttle, that makes sense.
Hello all... Freeing up some garage space for the turbos, obviously to make them happy, have just listed an 89 Rolls Royce Silver Spur on bat if anyone is interested in a sofa on wheels....

Been thoroughly enjoying the 996 rwd conversion mod lately, so I thought the 991 needed some love...
Drove it to the office and promptly put a screw through the right rear....
@#&$!
Some guys have all the luck.
That stinks but these cars are said to be puncture magnets.
When I first bought my car it had two screws in one rear tire. lol
