The sound is changed for the better, but I wish it was louder. It's a deeper sound, but not like a muscle car sound. Really good tone. There is no drone and with the windows rolled up, it's a subtle difference in volume. I have only heard it ideling, and it sounds like "how you imagine it should have been in the first place" vs "jumping back as it's so loud". This exhaust is for someone that wants a refined sound and not someone who wants a "track sound". Really surprised at lack of drone. Increase in turbo spool sound is there. Pretty dramatic increase in pops and gurgles. Pops are not sharp and obnoxious which I appreciate.
I think the price point is great and the shop didn't charge me much (half of what other shops quoted) and they were so insanely careful with my car.
Maybe it's my lack of refinement, or maybe it's because my hearing is s*it now, but I wish it was a bit more obnoxious and louder. But I am happy and I could always replace the cats with their sport cats to make it louder. My wife who loves a good sounding exhaust says if I make it louder it will be "douchebaggery" and said my hearing is going out.
Talked to the guys at Soul before purchase and they were really nice and spent a ton of time with me
This is the video I blame for making me pull the trigger and i wrote to the video maker and blamed him for making me spend more money as I waffled on this for a few months. He has it on a Naturally Aspirated 3.4 I believe, base model.
Thanks for chiming into the thread with your feedback, I'm quite happy to see that the install went well and you're enjoying the new sound. If you ever want to kick things up another notch, ditching those factory cats will do the job. I'll give you a shout later on today to hear more about your experience so far

Typically, a turbo car will sound completely different than a N/A car... the turbos themselves act as a muffler 😐 While my car is on its way to looking like a GT car, I’m afraid that it will never sound like one... ☹️
While matching the sound of the 991 Turbo to a naturally aspirate GT car isn't feasible, we can substantially improve the stock sound. Here is a video of our Competition System our most aggressive setup, though technically I could additionally remove two of the four resonators.
Good input, thanks...and pretty much what I had concluded when listening to Soul systems for the 991 turbo in my research. It appears they make their systems with a total of four resonators built into their xpipe design. Cats plus resonators would be why they are deeper, more muted and less obtrusive sounding. They are nice systems and pricing is good but I wanted to opt for something more aggressive.
In my case, I am going catless SpeedTech x-pipe and will see how it is. It'll most certainly be aggressive. No cats, no resonators. In the end, I may end up wanting something more tame. I can add cat resonator tubes ($750) or use my OEM cats, should I need to tone it down (or address drone).
Although I love a gloriously noisy car, I have to say I've also quickly grown to appreciate the quiet, subtle monster Porsche engineered. I took the wife wine tasting in Napa with the stock exhaust and recognized it would be a whole different experience, with catless, straight exhaust.In the end, I may end up wanting something more tame. I may turn the car into something I no longer want to take wine tasting. Not sure that'll be the longer term, preferred result. In addition to my own bad hearing and tinnitus (years of being in a band, racing bikes, etc), I'm also starting to practice a tad less "douchebaggery'. I don't want to be that guy burbling and shotgun popping at 14 miles per hour around my neighborhood. I'm sure the kid across the street with the modified BRZ wouldn't mind but...
I agree, you can simply go cat bypass tubes and have a completely different beast. That may be a good compromise. Unacceptable spousal levels of douchebaggery can pretty much be toggled on and off with the sport plus button and different right pedal technique.
First off I have a few friends that race bikes, kudos to you man...I raced shifter karts for 6 years and thought I had some ***** until I saw a buddy of mine lifting his rear wheel coming into a brake zone at about 150mph. That takes a special kind of crazy, 15 years ago I might have done it but I think I've made the conclusion I'll stick to four wheels in one way or another moving forwards.
I wish we had had a chance to chat before you picked up the exhaust. Part of being successful in this business is being able to cater to individual goals and expectations, and while we have standard options of X-Pipe, Sport X-Pipe and Competition X-Pipe, I'm always up for custom projects given they're feasible with our fixtures in order to maintain the quality of fitment and installation of our products. For example, I know I can ditch two of the four resonators of our X Pipes. The bottom two are used for mounting the exhaust and have key placements in our fixture, but the top two can scram if necessary. If you end up wanting something a bit more tame and are up for an exhaust chat don't hesitate to give me a ring anytime, I thoroughly enjoy chatting cars. Also, love that bit about toggling the "unacceptable spousal levels of douchebaggery"

Zunnsport grills and OEM floor mats with yellow stitching to match rest of interior
I was on the Zunnsport website and was unable to determine if I could get those grills without the cut out for the laser cannon mounted on the front of your car...
You wouldn't happen to know if they are available without the cut outs, or a more friendly website to look at them at?
Ah...adds up now...are you going to paint ? body color..I think I'll see what Modern wants to sand and squirt them..( ya I know...bend over) ...I'll install them myself..
I thought about it, but have decided against it. Historically, these are pieces that get all kinds of stuff thrown at it, so when I had a closer look at the ones on my 996, sure there were some marks, but the overall external integrity of the pieces was good.
So with that in mind, it would really irritate me if I were to go through painting them, only to have them damaged in short order by a rebel rock... then, I'd just want to keep repainting them, over and over and over...
Thank you, but I am CONSTANTLY learning myself.... my goals with the 996/991 is to be as intimately knowledgeable about them as I am with my Honda/Subaru/Ford gear...
There is some discussion regarding the fit of the GT3RS.1 versus the GT3RS.2 with the latter not fitting/following the body "exactly"...I'm interested in your feed back !
