I have had them all as well in the past. There are lots of posts for the best performing units out there for either window mounted or installed. I had window mounted ones all the way back to the original Escorts. My last one was a V1 probably 15 years ago and while it worked pretty well at the time, the issue is people (and cops) can see it, so you get the idiots who follow you to use your detector. For me, it caused me to drive faster to try to lose them, which makes it all worse of course. Also, I found it fell off the window (could be my driving) at times and you have to hide it if you go into a store or ever park it outside. It gets irritating. Also, in my view, the windshield mounted versions arent' as sensitive since the actual sensor is inside the car (although higher up, which may help offset a bit I guess).

The installed detectors are much classier, less obtrusive and made of a higher quality. The AL Priority are still the best laser jammers out there and I ended up getting the entire Net radar / AL laser package from AL about a year ago and it works well, but I think the tests show the Escort provides you with a longer range. I use the AL app on my phone so I can change it quickly between highway and city modes. If I were to do it again, I would go with the Escort (MAX 360 ci? I think is the top of the line new one) for the radar and use the AL Priority laser jammers. You would own the best solution available for radar and laser. The testing and data are clear. The only downside to this approach is it isn't pretty. You would have to use 2 control panels. I had two in my last car. I had the old Escort Ci (can't recall the number 9500 Ci or something) and the AL jammers. If you can hide both controls in the armrest or something then I would go with this solution for maximum protection. Plus, use WAZE app too and you're all set. WAZE has saved me a few times when the detectors were not alarming me.

Also, mine is completely hidden as others are here in the ashtray, so I just have the light on the top of my steering column and then I use the AL Priority phone app. I have my iPhone mounted just to the right of my steering wheel so I can easily see it. I use Waze, AL Priority, and Spotify all at once on my phone and it works just fine.

Thanks for detailed info and replies. Is $2000 about the going rate for the install of the Escort Max Ci? I already have a blackvue cam (which I highly recommend) installed on a blendmount (overpriced) with a mirrortap. Adding another device to the windsheild will look stupid.

I'm FL bound all the way down i95 eastern corridor right now. Have the Uniden R3 I got a week ago. Only one positive alert for KA band and was true. Every other second its K band beep beep all the way. Very annoying. I'm returning this crap after this trip. My opinion is..... WAZE

I don't think there is a material difference between ALP jammers and Escort ZR5 jammers that come with the Max CI360. The only difference is the number of sensors and you can always run a second ZR5 control unit on your Max CI360 to support up to 8 sensors. On my Mercedes I have the Escort with 6 sensors, vs the ALP with 5 sensors on the Porsche, and both are equally effective against all guns.

That sounds like TSR - traffic sensing radar. If that’s the case, you need a radar detector that has a filter designed to handle TSR to eliminate the false alerts.
