Very cool and fun thread, especially with the addition of the impressive bikes and training/riding files. Bravo guys!
Pretty a much a lurker on this board. Was angling for a GT3 allocation with the GT4 (dealer offered me $90K) as the trading chip at the small dealership where I ordered the GT4. Alas, they haven't and probably won't have any non-VIP allocations.
Thought I would make a small contribution though by posting up the TP file of a race I did last Saturday. Longest USA Cycling RR in the country. From Logan UT to Teton Village WY. Would highly recommend this event to those looking for a tough one.
This is LOTOJA. Averaged 21 mph with a few short stops and one flat front tire repair about 140 miles into the event.

Holy batman! I was about to post my ride but feel less accomplished, lol
Kudos
E-Motion Rollers -- inside ride emotion rolers. incredible.
its basically a set of rollers suspended on a frameset with springs so it moves forward or back ever so slightly so it absorbs all the motion that sometimes makes normal rollers hard to do. absolutely, hands down, no questions asked the single #1 thing which has helped me win 15 state championships over the last dozen years. if you cant get out or those 3 months of winter snow weather here in NJ though I do ride through winter always...recovery rides when you don't wan tto risk having to put any real pressure on pedals. when you're tight on time and want to bang out an hour or two of intervals .
+1 So much better than stationary trainers. Good way to log cheater miles on Strava as well...
if i were running PCNA, i make sure u get a RS at invoice. some of us got impressive rides, this is INSANITY.

^ with your 71 and 73, i am not sure the 991GT3 will be that special.
even with my beater 72 mutt .... it brings me pleasure the RS4.0 and 991 RS just can't do
and everyone waves at the long hood from 5 yo to 80 yo's.
with 991 and 997 sometimes they waive with middle finger.

I think 993 are now in the everybody waives happily at you catagory now, at least that is my experience. I miss my 71 targa though. Maybe prices will come down some more and I will get another long hood. I have been half-*** looking, but the problem is now I know what is possible having been around the block it is hard to settle for something less than what I want. Anyone know of a not Irish but still green (sea, leaf, Metallic, golden, Jade) targa driver? Lol.

Thanks for your advice Mooty. I certainly value your opinion as I have never driven any those modern 911s. Yes, the '73 Carrera is quite fun and as you say many 'thumbs ups'.
I have never owned a GT3, so I thought I would try to order a 991.2, but with your prospective in mind, the lack of an allocation is easier to live with.
That's just amazing. Any pics? I'd love to ride into JAX, the scenery is just amazing.
Yes, the Tetons are spectacular. Actually we only had a great view of the them the day of the race. We flew out the weekend before to vacation in Jackson, the Tetons and Yellowstone that week. Unfortunately large wildfires in MT, with a north wind blowing, sent ash down into WY so the peaks were obscured most the week. Only when the wind switched to the south the day of the race did the haze leave.
It was very inspiring to see them when I rode into Teton Village.
