Comparing 991.2 GT3 with prior R/RS models shows .2 superior?

Bronson7 - have to admit if the car was at msrp or just below I would use it a fair bit lot more. I still drive/track it but I'd be lying if I said I didn't keep half an eye on the mileage.

The 4.0 is better (engine noticeably so and rear axle more stable but more subtle) but 2x or whatever it is now? No way. Outside of the x/600 plaque, the initial base price difference (15% iirc?) was more or less accurate in reflecting the difference between the cars I thought at the time and tbh in many respects I still do. If I were financially sensible I'd replace the 4.0 with the 7.2 and use the difference to load up on some differential and suspension changes truth be told but I can't quite bear to sell it either it has to be admitted. Never said I was sensible anyway
Fun2k was comparing 7.2gt3 to 4.0; so that was basis of my comments. Yes, your 7.2rs much closer to 4.0 experience than 7.2Gt3.
LE plaque aside, 7.2rs/4.0 MSRP spread would be way too close imo, but current spread clearly reflects scarcity and fact that it is the pinnacle of mezger n/a. And the latter i believe is every bit as important as the plaque. This is what separates 997-4.0 from something like the 991R for me. I hold onto the 4.0 at these levels not because of the LE plaque, but because it is the no compromise king of mezger NA. Without that, I'd sell and buy 7.2rs at these levels for sure.
That said, ZERO knock on the R or its owners because I've never driven one. And I've never driven a 991.2 Gt3. I have driven and own a 991.1rs. But from my perspective, I think it's kinda pointless to compare cars i've never driven.

Would agree with you on the above.

If PDK is superceded by some other technology, finding a mechanic to service pdk could be more challenging in the future...

We all have a limit or number that we are comfortable scrapping at the race track.
Impossible to get track unsurance on my 4.0l in Sweden. There is a thread in the 997gt3 section about a owner driving his 4.0l on track with two or three other cars. I would be very comfortable doing that with my 4.0l
Not with a whole bunch of cars. More comfortable tracking a cheaper car that I can push to my limits.
On the other hand, there was a Pagani owner tracking his car at Sebring yesterday with Chin. We all have different size wallets and risk perspective.

At least today you can still find a functioning Atari game console.

Not condoning it (4500 miles on my LT in 1 year and 1500 on my GT4 in first 6 months of ownership) but the analogy works for a lot of ridiculously rich owners.
