What will the "Gas Guzzler Tax" be
Just wondering what will the "Gas Guzzlerr Tax" be on the 991.2 GT3?
It was $1,000 on the 997.1
It was $1,000 on the 997.1

^ $1,000 on 991.1 GT3; $1,300 on the RS. Those are obviously with PDK...manual transmission will probably be more...

Since the engine (and thus fuel economy) is much more related to the 991.1 GT3RS, I would expect the 991.2 GT3 to share the same tax of $1300.
However, per the EPA, "The total amount of the tax is determined later and is based on the total number of gas guzzler vehicles that were sold that year. It is assessed after production has ended for the model year and is paid by the vehicle manufacturer or importer."
The above would make it seem like Porsche needs to estimate the production and apply a tax to cars so Porsche can later pay the tax. It seems like the lower amount of vehicles delivered to the US, the lower amount of tax. This notion holds true if you look at the max gas guzzler tax applied for cars under 22.5mpg. The 991.2 GT3 will most likely have a combined mpg of 17.5 which equates to $2600, but since they only deliver a relatively small number to the US then the tax is lowered (to $1300, probably).

...until you realize that, for instance, the outgoing Ford Raptor was EPA rated at 11 mpg city but, because of BS government reg's, did not get a GG tax!

Since 991.2 GT3 has same aero drag as 991.1 GT3, I would guess tax is same at $1k. And they raised the compression ratio of the motor from 12.9 to 13.3 to 1 which helps with mpg (and power/torque)...

But the fuel economy numbers for the PDK are a little better than the manual, because it has an auto mode that short-shifts (I guess this is the reason or some other compatibility with the way the tests are administered). Having 7 gears helps too, although top gear is virtually the same in each.
