And the Winner for Evo Car of 2017??

Have my January or is it February EVO and it has ECOTY. But they haven't actually done a test. They've simply written a short article on each of their favourite cars in each category from superminis to hypercars.
They've positioned it as being more inclusive than before, because of all the categories being covered and also the fact it includes cars from past years as well as this one.
But it smells like the truth is they couldn't get a proper test together. Very sad indeed and I think marks the death of the magazine.
No GT3. Not even mentioned.

They destroyed what they Created.. it s irrevant now..
quote from the test: it may explain why no mention of the gt3..« Unlike previous years we havent restricted ourselves to considering only new cars launched during the last twelve months. As we see all too often, the latest arrivals aren’t always an improvement over the established class leader. In addition, for a car to be eligible for consideration, you must be able to place an order for one, and not need to be a ‘special’ customer to do so. In other words, no unobtainium. »

My subscription for Evo expires on 12/29. I had been contemplating renewing. I mean, $25 for 6 months is about 2 Starbucks coffees but I just find it hard to support something that was so good for so long and now is but a whisper of its former self. I feel some sense of need to keep supporting it to hope it returns to its former glory.
I had feared once Harry Metcalf sold, it would go downhill. Slowly all the great contributors left. Not much left now. Prefer just to follow those guys on Twitter / gram and their respective YouTube channels.

I guess it's inevitable as users increasingly expect content on the internet for free and don't want to shell out £5 for a monthly mag.
We are of course shooting ourselves in the foot as quality of journalism plummets and nothing is actually free anyway. We simply become the product as advertising fodder. A lose-lose situation if ever there was one.

There are still some quality journos supplying copy, but the depth of talent that was once there is gone.
