Unfortunately I am only dreaming of track time right now as it is currently snowing in NJ and we are supposed to get more on Tuesday. I'll keep dreaming. Does moving the car to get to the snowblower count?

That was Trakcars recipe mine is:

Pickup Car

Drive it to track (3000km's = break in)

Track Car

But Trakcars recipe is cooler IMO.

Are you registered for our CJ/SD date?

The newbs will learn a driven porsche is a happy easier to maintain porsche.

I bought my 997RS in 2013. It hit the track about 2 weeks after I got it.
It was a garage queen. I polluted it. Its happier.
Same with my 964. Garage queen. Ripped it apart and turned it into a canyon/track car.

Are you registered for the CJ/SD track day? CO is not far from bakersfield.

I'd love to do it again this summer but seems impossible at the moment.
More play, less work. You're doing alright tho, maybe in lead on 991RS. Showing a driven RS is a happy RS.

Yes, I hang out in the AC area lately, those guys work on and drive their cars.
Same with pelican, but they're kinda crotchety over there. But a helpful bunch.

Is not the thread where we debate about CXX deviated stitching color for floor mats? That does seem to be 87% of the content these days.

30 track days last year. Three PCA club races. Probably another 30 this year but going up to six or seven club races. Need to compete for the national stock G championship and the fame, glory and riches that come with that.

Look at this screen shot of the threads on front page.

What is going on where are the drivers?

Is value the new lap time?

Good post... New to Rennlist and it appears people on here only care about car value, crying about manuals, and parroting back about what a cleaning lady says the next Porsche model will be. Might be more of a collector crowd than driving.

The above was meant a little tongue and cheek

Haha funny thread. I think it's Porsche's fault. Every time I've been to the track with the GT4 I see at least 3 or 4 of them at minimum.

I just think the cost of 991.x GT3s just are more out of reach for the majority of track guys maybe? Or i suppose you could say I just need to work harder :-)

Why don't the leather steering column guys just get a loaded 991 4 GTS with pdk?

I'm heading to the track in a few hours for the weekend.

I just looked at the registration list, out of about 90 cars. 2 GT4, 13 GT3. Most of the GT3 are 997 or 996 generations. I'm the only 997RS and Martin should have his 991RS out there. Lots of caymans, boxsters, and SD had a really great showing of air cooled cars too.

so that's pretty good. This is porsche club San Diego.

But yeah, the 991 guys aren't tracking as much. Cost? Maybe. I think it's more than that. Think about it. 997RS was 150. And way more rare. Same deal, 991GT is 150 (less now).

Which is really too bad, as the top time trial of the day will either be a dedicated race car or our buddy's 991 GT3, stock car on Hoosiers. They are extremely fast and capable machines.

And Club dependent. I know speed district sees a good few more RS/GT4. And PCA Golden Gate will see a very large number of GT4s.

With COTA maybe that's the 1-2 days a year some guys do. Dust off the fast car...???

Improving economy, PDK GT3 and RS, and easy money have drawn in a wider audience by design. Shouldn't be shocked that more discussion is around ownership, value, yada than tracking. RL isn't the only place that has changed over the years as a result. I'm with you that as of late it's gotten out of control around here and commend you, CJ and others for getting back on track.

Denver is a smaller market than you guys have on the West coast, but has a disproportionately large if somewhat hidden car culture. A number of the guys on this board who don't post frequently still visit the track a lot. I would also add I've seen a lot more people doing private days that aren't as visible. FWIW, I've seen more 991 GT3 on track here (CO) than 997 in the last year or two. Quite a few GT4s - seems to be the 997 guys' track tool of choice for now. Sadly it has been a couple years since I've seen a 997RS on track.

For my part, I took the RS straight(ish) from the delivery room to Spa and 'ring. Got off the boat and straight to HPR and got in a couple of days before the snow started falling. Just got some RE10s and revising my track alignment for the first few days this year over the next week or two, hope to contribute Trakcar's settings thread. Wish BW was closer or I'd come out and join, sounds like will be a great event.

Porsche's success has brought in a lot of new customers. This brings in different 'types' of customers. Love 'em or hate 'em, they are here to stay.

The endless threads on value are extremely annoying, but they aren't going away, unfortunately. It's gotten to the point where I ignore most threads and don't visit the site as much anymore.
