GT3 Dealer Allocation Thread
#2851
Just got an update from my local dealer (Stevinson Porsche Denver CO), currently #11 on the list. I have no relationship with them, never bought a new Porsche, purchased a Lexus LX570 from their sister dealer. I have not put down any form of deposit, put my name down about 10-12 months prior to announcement. My SA told me that the dealer is planning a major upsize/new construction, and their allocations will be upsized significantly. The SA seemed confident when stating I will get a build at msrp, potentially in 6 months to start getting communication about it. Was told to send in my build configuration, which I did. Will be a 6spd manual config.
Am I getting smoke blown up my a**? Or is it possible the hysteria is fading behind the scenes, lists are not as dense as expected (ie people peeling off)? I was very excited about the news, just don't want to get my hopes up. Anything I can ask in particular to help establish the veracity of my position? Tx.

My dealer just spent millions on their new store and I assumed that would help their GT allocations and then I was told nope it is all about their 911 sales. Assumption is new store will generate more traffic but that will take time.

When a dealer spends millions on improvements, he needs profit to stay on his feet. Particularly if he is a small store in a market which is not generating sales. Porsche will provide help to dealers facing those conditions. And they'll do that by giving them the allocations they know will generate profit. Today, GT allocations are one those.
Besides all that, Porsche executives have said that anyone who wants a GT car will get one. IMO, all you have to do is be patient, stay alert, steadfast in your goal, and hang onto your money for awhile.

This isn't the first time I've read this here but I've never seen any actual source. Where's that from? Which executive said that?

Its not uncommon that OEMs want the look of the store to change, to keep up with the times, and that therefore some will come up with creative ways to blow because of it.
Locally a dealer did they same. But the real reason was that the changes requested by the OEM in addition to the required maintenance updates vs building new justified new.

Yes allocations dropped today for the entire 2018 year and now are complete for this car barring any pool gift baskets. Underwhelming would be an understatement in regards to how many cars Porsche is building. Ridiculous may be more appropriate....

That sucks Brett. And sucks because it sure seemed they wanted to make it not limited and build plenty to control the flipping.
#2862
What makes you believe that all allocations for the entire 2018 MY were given out at once, vs. more coming later?
#2863
I think most of you think Porsche cares about the flipping a lot more then they actually do.
They selling their cars, their dealers are making money on used cars....we the end users are getting somewhat screwed....all right in the corporate world.
We still buying their cars regardless.

A few questions here if you can answer. Is it "ridiculous" because your dealership did not get what was expected for allocation allotments, or because the allocation for North America dealers in general, are way below what was expected for dealers?
So if the allocation is rather "limited" or below expectations, it would be relevant to say production numbers for other GT cars would also be lower than expected or stated.
