so much for my investment hahaha
Look at it from current owner perspective.
- 911 R? Why pay that premium when the 991.2 GT3 is just as good, and many think better?
- 991.1 RS? The engine in the 991.2 GT3 is better, just as powerful, and has a manual.
- 991.1 GT3? Only if the 991.1 is a lot cheaper, which it will be.
- 997 GT3 RS? The new 991.2 GT3 flogs it in every way imaginable.
- 997 GT3 RS 4.0? Only collectors would choose the 4.0 over the 991.2 GT3.
Conclusion:
Any way you slice it, these new GT3's are going to be in high demand. Prices of just about everything else will soften accordingly, and these cars will be bid up. Fully expecting around $180k to $200k street price. That high price will support prices to a degree on the 991.1 GT3, and possibly pull down anything currently going over $200k.
Supply and demand.

911 R? Why pay that premium when the 991.2 GT3 is just as good
===> an R is an R, it doesnt need to be better. it's an R. does that make sense, no? but R is an R. if i have the money i would take one $500K, $600K. it's hard to explain. but after you bought enough p cars. what i just said will suddenly make sense for senseless
- 991.1 RS? The engine in the 991.2 GT3 is better, just as powerful, and has a manual.
===> it may come as a surprise but many GT drivers do not want a manual trans. but yes .2GT3 has a great engine
- 997 GT3 RS? The new 991.2 GT3 flogs it in every way imaginable.
===> 7 has mezger. it's like your mother. you can't just dump her at the senior center and forget. and keeping a stick 7RS and a pdk 991.x will bring a new level of driving nirvana that you have to have both to understand.
- 997 GT3 RS 4.0? Only collectors would choose the 4.0 over the 991.2 GT3.
===> many do not drive their 4.0, sad that is. but once driven a 4.o, unless one needs the money, they have to be total moron to trade a 4.0 to a 1.2GT3. 4.0 has reached godlike status. it can be slow as fk, it's is a RS4.0 it is the modern 73RS/RSR. those cars are utter junk vs 1.2GT3. but i would take 73RS/RSR over 50 units of 1.2RS/GT3.
and a 4.0 has to be driven to be believed. it's not just a bigger 3.8.
and the spec on paper is not right. there are a LOT of diffenece b/nthem. i had both 3.8 and 4.0 on the rack and took stuff off to compare. many things PAG didnt disclose.

Nothing wrong with 991.1 RS or R 4.0L engine either. In fact as Nate Oz said proof is in the pudding. We've heard APs sales lines before. Anyone who thinks they can drive a solid lifter valve train w/o periodic maintenance and wear I have a bridge here in Brooklyn I've decided to sell. PM me.

It would definitely be disappointing to be an R owner at the moment knowing your car has the old 4.0 without the racing valvetrain which just in its initial state of tune is making 500hp without breaking a sweat st 9k rpm.. while the old 4.0 R engine has to be restrained lest it blows itself up.

Hanging with a sales girl who seems to know some info... she's such an aficionado that she painted her nails sport classic grey to match her 911... she got close don't you think

Racing valve trains blow up too. Usually need maintenance also except for this magical one. "Flappy paddles are for grandmas" remember?
I'm more than ok with 8600 rpm.

Lets first wait for 6 months after the first deliveries of the 991.2 before we all start celebrating. I went thru the 2014 fiasco so I am always skeptical. Looks great on paper but we need to wait and see

I'm getting a second year (MY 2019) GT3 for two reasons.
1- so I can do European delivery the summer of 2018, and 2- so I will know there have been no engine issues with the first year of the .2 GT3 before I spend $$$ to upgrade my current GT3.
