I've always preferred the look of the 991gt3 over the RS! The 991.2 front looks aggressive and cool IMO.

There will be a lot of people trading their RS for 991.2

9k redline
Better tire options for those that track. Go 19 on 991.2 instead of the not so easy to work with 21 rear on RS
Obviously MT as option is a big +
I recall AP saying how special and reliable the 991.1 GT3 engine was and look where that left us...proof is in the pudding and the track record for PAG is pretty poor. I'm skipping the 991.2 all together for now, but might come back in the 992 if they get their QC sorted out.

I don't blame you. A lot of new tech in this engine to make all of us feel comfortable.

Last time around they didn't have any race car testing before they released the 991.1gt3.
Still ran the Mezger for 3 years after release.
Now we get to drive pretty much the same engine as they use in the cup and Race R.

There are no guarantees indeed.
But what we do know for sure is that now it is a motorsport engine. Same engine platform as the real racing engines, with the lessons learned from that.
That was not the case with the RS engine that has no competition validation whatsoever.

Best bet with regards to reliability will ofcourse be MY2019

Many prefer the cosmetic appearance of the GT3 to the RS, as I do. Come this fall, there won't be that much of a reason to own an RS over a .2 GT3 other than only saying "it's an RS", which is just a ******* measuring contest, and I'm not insecure that way

Don't get me wrong, the 991.1 RS is a fantastic machine, but after today's announcement, you can no longer justify 991 RS markups over MSRP.
I still see them as very different cars myself, with the RS being the more desirable of the two, even compared to the .2 GT3. Spread somewhere between $20k and $40k. Given I agree with you that I think the remaining RSs out there will start to trade lower, I can't see much room for a large premium on the new GT3, at least until all the unsold RSs are gone.

But that was my point, i.e., that it will be just like the GT4, with similar demand levels and similar premiums initially. I don't think it will be RS like. Both for demand reasons, but also due to the base price increase and the new VIP/flip rules.

It will be interesting to see the sales numbers of PDK vs manual. I have a feeling a manual transmission will be the sales leader. There is no question that this car will be hot!

May be the leader in NA, but if you include WW, the PDK will definitely be the leader. We'll probably never be told the numbers anyways.

IIRC, AP said they expect sales to be 60/40 PDK.

Spot on!

Can see some paying 10-20 over because they want the latest and greatest. Just like gt4! Dealers asking more than $20k over won't sell cars.

I've got a feeling that while GT3 premiums will surprise us, the gt4RS premiums are going to set records as that car will be limited and completely outsized performance-wise.

The RS LOOK in a cayman mid engine package will send desire & consequently wallets flying

Now way they will put a 4.0 in a Cayman. Not happening. A 3.8 detuned and with a lower rev limit or solids to go to 9000. But not a 4.0L.

Doesn't look likely there will be a 991.2GT3RS. No time. They have alot on their plate. .2GT3, .2GT2RS and new GT4 or GT4RS. 992 is debuting in 2018.

On the fence whether .2 RS will happen but agree that they will not put a 4.0L engine in either the GT4 or GT4RS.

Quick Reply: Will the 991.2 GT3 be a $300K car?
