Will the 991.2 GT3 be a $300K car?

Many prefer the cosmetic appearance of the GT3 to the RS, as I do. Come this fall, there won't be that much of a reason to own an RS over a .2 GT3 other than only saying "it's an RS", which is just a ******* measuring contest, and I'm not insecure that way
Don't get me wrong, the 991.1 RS is a fantastic machine, but after today's announcement, you can no longer justify 991 RS markups over MSRP.

Honestly, I just don't think there will be a frenzy around the .2 GT3 like there was around the .1 RS. The RS was/is more of a special car than the new GT3. I still think, at most, you'll see it play out similar to the GT4, or a lot of people simply won't be interested. With the price bump, I think a mildly optioned GT3 is a fair deal at sticker. I don't hold that view much above sticker though, and I think the initial 'OMG this car is awesome - I need one' hysteria is going to quiet down relatively quickly now that the cat's out of the bag. But, like I said, we'll know soon enough.
I have requests/offers in at 20 out of state dealers for a configurable allocation at MSRP, willing to put a big nonrefundable deposit down and pay cash for the car, and my local dealer SA is working hard to see if he can get me one of their allocations as well. If I get crickets in response, that'll tell me where things are heading.

Mac resale is same as Lambo and Aston. This will change. They made a huge mistake when they made the 12C and produced way too many. With the 570 and now the 720 they are making just enough to satisfy the demand - many are ordered. My bet is in 10 years they're resale will be better than Lambo but still less than Porsche and Ferrari.

Some people think we are dumb for spending our money on non appreciating commodities.

New engine in .2 GT3 appears to be better than the 4.0 in the RS, with likely more reliability, 9K redline, and more responsiveness due to better torque curve. The new GT3 also will likely have equal or faster lap time as compared to the RS, plus refinements to the suspension and PDK. The new GT3 can also be had with manual.
The RS looks cool, but I don't see how the new GT3 won't bring the RS price down close to MSRP, and maybe eventually below that (especially for cars with substantial miles). RS owners may not want to believe that the price will drop, but if the demand drops, the price will drop also.

Pistonheads article mentions at least 3000 units capacity limited, similar to 991.1, so safe to say there should be enough to go around and all the market adjustments should abate after awhile.

RS is great, but the engine in the 991.2 seems to be very special.
I've always preferred the look of the 991gt3 over the RS! The 991.2 front looks aggressive and cool IMO.
There will be a lot of people trading their RS for 991.2
9k redline
Better tire options for those that track. Go 19 on 991.2 instead of the not so easy to work with 21 rear on RS
Obviously MT as option is a big +

Every engine has had it's issues.. Those that think the new one will be issue free please let me borrow your crystal ball.
Better engine than RS? Show me the pile of broken RS engines. Must have missed it.
Clearly what we or at least I see is a tacit admission by PAG that revving a hydraulic valve train to 9000 created issues especially with the smaller 3.8. They initially were going to give the RS and R 4.0 a 9000 limit but clearly backed away dropping it too 8800 in first and 8600 in the remaining gears with revised pressures and squirters. A more realistic level for a hydraulic valve train.
Hydraulic and solid lifters each have their advantages and disadvantages. Hydraulics are quieter and maintenance free. Solids can rev higher and are lighter thus and produce more power but require maintenance. Now if PAG figured way to make a maintenance free solid valve train that is a neat trick. Proof will be in the pudding.

Agree. It's a question of spread. The current price spread is ridiculous, and will come crashing down to normal MSRP levels by the end of summer, as the .2 GT3s begin to arrive. There is about 8% more performance in the current RS compared to the current GT3, which will fall to 1% after the .2 GT3 arrives this fall with the same engine power as the 991.1 RS and as much downforce as 997.2 RS.

How did you figure your speed percentages? Are you figuring mt or pdk? Mt will likely be significantly slower.
As to markups your assuming the .2 GT3 will be markup free. I bet we will see 30k markups. RS is RS. Prices of RS will be pushed up with .2 markups. Spread will remain $40k.
For me it's a no brainer, at near or same $ I go RS all day long and 2xs on Sunday.
Real question is how will R values be affected. R visually does not stand out. It main draw was mt and LE
