This is another reason I like the black aluminum. It blends in perfectly on the console.

Flat Shifting?
Car magazine in the UK have a review of the car (a manual version) in their latest edition. It's not a full review as the car was driven by one of Porsche's GT guys but some of the comments are interesting( e.g. "In truth it has an identity all of its own; it's a more emotional yet softer-edged GT911, an accessible yet utterly involving road racer, a special yet perfectly docile sports car. It's the most complete GT3 yet")
"You can change gear without lifting off, thanks to an automated momentary adjustment to the ignition timing..."
we had not heard anything about this previously.. I wonder if this is already functional on the 911R?... gonna try it this weekend to see but that would be very interesting as it's rarely if ever mentioned.

there is a very interesting bit in the article where they say

Aston Martin offered a similar system on its 7 speed dog-legged manual V12 Vantage where you can shift gear with lifting off.
I hope this system can be turned off, because I hate any sort of auto blip, no lift off assistance system on manual transmission cars.

They've gifted the manual and listened. Let's not be unappreciative now. Many would have paid extra for it! Maybe they are as a "no cost" option, but who cares.
Looks like will be the only 991.1 or 991.2 GT car to have a manual (aside from R) or some other limited special edition.
Like complaining about a $130.00 option on a $145K++++ car. Many guys should be upset with all the gov't taxes you get charged to buy one. How many of you guys pay almost 10% sales tax with no trade in allowance?
Not to get off topic, but just saying ...

My sentiments exactly STG.
And you have to appreciate Porsche for its history and success as most profitable automaker in the world. After all, they must maintain their position somehow... and nickel and diming us is at least paying off with the creation of great sports cars.
Don't have the same compassion for the fortune that I regularly fork over to state government (CT) in the form of income and sales tax... they're doing a ****ty job at best resulting in value destruction.
*Edit Excuse me while I digress even further...Well this can't possibly be good for U.S. Porsche buyers.

Getting excited. Really curious how the shifting works without lifting and also if it puts extra stress on the transmission. You probably can turn off auto rev matching and auto lift with the sports button like the GT4.
