^^ I stand corrected. Looks like you're correct on standard brushed silver aluminum.

Don't you hate it when mistakes get captured in a quote before you can banish them to the ether?

Default 1st time speccing a GT3

What do people think? This will be my shared daily commuter/country road/poseur build. I only track 2-3 times / year max so I don't think the PCCBs will crap out that soon.

My 1m has about 130mm of clearance and barely doesn't scrape my driveway so lift is needed. Otherwise, Texas is fairly flat. Someone mentioned the lift now raises 40mm so 88+40 will give me 128mm of clearance.

I haven't sat in LWBS but I'm still young and fit (5'10'' 168lbs).

Not sure if regular or black LEDs work better with gt silver. Thanks.

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place.

Nice taste. That's exactly my first build spec that picked except for the sport chrono. Still debating on the manual as well. Well done!

Yeah, most of the advantage has nothing to do with shifting. It comes on the actual launch from standing start (computer controlled traction with PDK launch control), while both versions of the car are still in first gear. If you look at the longer acceleration runs, the manual actually claws back a tenth of a second (doesn't really lose much time on the shifts and manual has less internal resistance and weighs 37 pounds less).

And the no-lift upshifts with manual (if it even has this function) is not there to save time - it's there to save the car from clumsy drivers. Still takes as long to operate the clutch and move the gear lever.

This is why on a road course (where there are no standing starts), there is very little difference between the cars (when manual well driven). Still helps to have 7 gears vs. 6 and shift times do help PDK, but way less than most expect...

The manual should pull slightly harder in gear than PDK (as reported with 911R vs. RS) - maybe this is why no LWFW for the manual GT3, for the conspiracy theorists among us

Ahh, okay. That completely slipped my mind. For some reason I thought manual had a launch control like the old GT2RS.

that's an exceptional build. def go for the buckets - no question about it. I have them on my GT4 and they are spectacular.

Question for people who have experience with PCCB (or any carbon ceramic brakes) vs the steel/iron brakes. Do they squeak more? Which are more road compliant? Which would you get and why?

Thanks all, trying to learn as I haven't had any experience with carbon ceramics.

No offense, but .....

This is the Masters .2 GT3 program here at Rennlist University.

For undergrad studies there is plenty of material in older threads in the RL archives to search for specific option likes/dislikes.

Better to focus on the specifics of the NEW .2 that differ than the .1

Notice how light the driver's side door strip looks in that pic.

I'm just pointing it out because it demonstrates how they can look completely different in pictures than they actually look due to the way the light bounces off them.

That aside... I'm still curious about this black vs. anthracite question. Is anthracite a thing that's been in other 911's? Does anyone have it? Is it definitely not black?

That isn't clear to me. I pulled screenshots from the 3D builder for the "old" black trim from a 981 GTS that is still up for building and for the current GT3. They look identical as far as you can tell in the different generations of builder site. I can post them if it is useful. Of course pictures from actual cars are more useful.

FWIW I like the "interior trim painted" option when the contrast between leather and outside color (which will be the trim color) is medium or when the color saturation is similar. Try a graphite blue car with black leather and painted trim. There were a few such cars in the "Hot for sale of the week" thread.

On the configurator, even in 3-D mode, it looks like brushed black. On the pic above, especially on the door, it looks much closer to silver than black.
