This isn't really "good news." It used to be that base price included the MT and PDK was more as an option. Now if you opt for MT the price stays the same and Porsche keeps the extra margin.

^ Fixed it? Just think about that for a minute, it was actually the VW engineers that put the manual gearbox back into the GT3.

Yup, actually paying a premium to opt for the manual.

Edit: Only making an observation, not a complaint....

I would spend the extra on full leather so you can get red stitching. Also I think the trim strips are too much red. They work better for me in silver or maybe crayon. With a black/red build like this I'd go anthracite aluminium.

They've gifted the manual and listened. Let's not be unappreciative now. Many would have paid extra for it! Maybe they are as a "no cost" option, but who cares.

Looks like will be the only 991.1 or 991.2 GT car to have a manual (aside from R) or some other limited special edition.

Like complaining about a $130.00 option on a $145K++++ car. Many guys should be upset with all the gov't taxes you get charged to buy one. How many of you guys pay almost 10% sales tax with no trade in allowance?
Not to get off topic, but just saying ...

Yours is virtually the same as mine. Except I choose the dark alu interior strips instead of the red / body color interior strips. I was afraid there would be a clash between that and the differnt type of red of the 6-points ...

I have the dark aluminum in my Boxster and absolutely love it. It blends in nicely while still looking classy. I'd definitely get it again in the GT3.

I'm happy Porsche is offering the manual, though praising it as a "no cost option" is a bit generous. No one ever said Porsche didn't know a thing or two about marketing!

I don't think that I've heard/read about anyone complaining here about the no cost manual option... au contraire, I for one am thrilled about the option as are, I assume, the vast majority of us that participate here.

My car, which I am pretty well guaranteed to get, with be fitted with the manual.

Once again, STG, thanks for all the effort that you have put into this thread, very helpful indeed

Car magazine in the UK have a review of the car (a manual version) in their latest edition. It's not a full review as the car was driven by one of Porsche's GT guys but some of the comments are interesting( e.g. "In truth it has an identity all of its own; it's a more emotional yet softer-edged GT911, an accessible yet utterly involving road racer, a special yet perfectly docile sports car. It's the most complete GT3 yet")

We need to do you a favor and post pictures of existing cars that have painted interior trim in combination with plain bright colors, namely racing yellow and guards red. The photos I remember to have seen do not make it look great when the leather is black.

I also recommend that if you are into this kind of options that you install the unity plugin for your browser so that you can also use the 3D view.

Remember that you can change the trim strips in the front but not those in the doors. The door trim is part of the door panel and not sold separately by Porsche.

Finally, the instrument cluster colors never match the exterior color of the same name. There will be a red-vs-red clash between the cluster and the trim. ETA: oh and the situation was better in 991.1 times where you could always get the middle console frame in leather, no matter what other trim you picked.
