I dunno.
I think the reason that Mclaren doesn't publish Ring times is the same reason Ferrari no longer publishes Ring times-------because their cars don't achieve the lap times on the Ring, that their high-end branding, high HP cars, and high prices would justify.
There was no P1 Ring time because it was clearly slower than the 918, and laferrari. The 720s specs sound amazing, but they don't want to see it beaten on the Ring by cheaper models from Porsche, or other manufacturers.

Until the same mag has tests of the perfomante and gt2rs out as well it's not an entirely relevant to compare the 720 with anything yet imo.

You're comparing a magazine time vs the factory time...... What did AZ do with the .2gt3? SportAuto were 7:18 for example and that in theory is with a quicker driver than the AZ one. Edit - found it AZ were 7:24 with the .2gt3. So that should hopefully put paid to the idea that the 720 is slower. I now await comments about it not being enough quicker though.....

"CG (aka Sport Auto) will achieve around 6.52min with 991.2 GT2 RS and around 7.08min with 720S on latest Trofeos."
He has NEVER been wrong talking about Supertest or whatever...

Because Mclaren is the responsible company and won't encourage dangerous driving. Porsche, on the other hand, is the immature child who takes crazy risks and encourages people alike to do stupid things!

What other mods were made for the record attempts? Was it the quickest of the multile test cars they had been running in the lead up to the official runs and how much slower were the other cars not used on the official day?
I could keep going, but my point is if you critically analyze it there are always more questions that never get answers. I'm not sure what record attempts achieve other than some marketing and the only high end factory program is VW.

To be fair though a 720s is not meant to be a track bias car, but then neither is the GT3.2.
Imv think it will be a long time before we see a Mac road car get close or better the 2RS time.
